                                                    HUFLIT FIR&C Students Explore the “Real-World Skills” of the Interpreting Profession through Insights from AlumniRecently, HUFLIT’s Faculty of International Relations and Communication (FIR&C) organized a workshop titled “The Interpreting Profession – Real-World Skills,” featuring insights shared by the Faculty’s alumni and attracting strong participation from students.
Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City had an online exchange with HUFLIT
On the morning of June 29, 2021, via the online meeting platform Google Meeting, the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City had an exchange with Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology (HUFLIT).
Attending the online exchange session were invited guests Mr. Watanabe Nobuhiro – Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City; representatives of the school included Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Principal, Dr. Tran Van Tieng – Head of the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thu – Head of the Japanese Department, lecturers of the department and more than 40 HUFLIT students.
Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Principal of the School gave the opening speech for the exchange. In his speech, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan expressed his sincere thanks to the Japanese government and people for providing 1 million doses of Astrazeneca vaccine to Vietnam, and there will be 1 million more doses in the next 2 weeks. All HUFLIT lecturers and staff were also vaccinated with this vaccine last weekend. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said he wanted to increase activities related to scientific research, lecturer training, and human resource training for industries that both Japan and Vietnam need. “Today’s online exchange is a very special event because it shows our spirit of not being defeated by the pandemic, not giving up in the face of difficulties to rise up strongly. Life always goes on, and we are always ready for the best when the pandemic is over.” – Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan further emphasized.
Next was the presentation of Mr. Watanabe Nobuhiro – Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. The Consul General’s speech provided a lot of useful information about the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan, while helping students have the opportunity to improve their soft skills. Students had the latest information on the situation and distribution structure of Japanese enterprises promoting in Southeast Asia in general and Vietnam in particular; knowing that Vietnam is currently the leader in the number of Japanese enterprises among countries in Southeast Asia. Helping students understand the current job situation related to Japanese language, while strengthening their confidence and orientation for self-development in the future.

In his speech, Consul General Watanabe repeatedly emphasized that Vietnam is currently being targeted by many businesses around the world, including Japan. Besides, he also expressed his joy about the increasingly close relationship between Japan and Vietnam. Through that, he expressed his great expectations for young Vietnamese people, hoping that they will strive in their studies and work to become a solid bridge between the two countries in the future.
Consul General Watanabe also said that the number of Vietnamese students studying in Japan has increased sharply in recent years. It has now surpassed Korea and reached the second position (only behind China).
After the Consul General’s speech, HUFLIT students also expressed their interest in the new and useful information and actively asked questions related to issues such as the Vietnam – Japan relationship in the recent period, the demand for labor in Japan, and some notes when studying in Japan.

The exchange between the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and HUFLIT ended successfully, promising that in the near future there will be more new exchanges between HUFLIT and the Consulate General of Japan.
