Unveiling the Secrets of EDM at the Talkshow “Music Festival – Beyond The Stage”
How is a grand music festival brought to life? The talkshow “Music Festival – Beyond The Stage” served as a platform for HUFLIT’s Faculty of International Relations and Communication students to explore every stage of the process—from creative ideation and production to professional event operation.
Joining HUFLIT students at the event was Mr. Tris Trương, CEO and Founder of Ravolution Asia, the pioneering brand that has shaped Vietnam’s EDM scene. With over a decade of experience in organizing large-scale music festivals such as Ravolution Music Festival and Watera Festival, he shared valuable insights into the event management industry—a dynamic field blending creativity, strategy, and community spirit.
During the session, Mr. Tris Trương introduced Ravolution Asia as a “leading music festival ecosystem in Asia,” built upon three core values: Energy – Unity – Love. He also highlighted the distinction between a concert (artist-centered) and a music festival (focused on experience, visual artistry, and human connection), offering students a deeper understanding of the crucial roles of PR, communication, and branding in building lasting vitality for large-scale entertainment projects.
The talkshow was divided into two main segments: “Understanding Music Festivals” and “How to Operate and Organize a Music Festival.” In the first part, Mr. Tris Trương offered in-depth perspectives on the concept, characteristics, and organizational models of music festivals, analyzing the strengths and limitations of each type. Through the story of Ravolution Music Festival, he expressed his aspiration to elevate Vietnam’s image and culture on the global stage through high-quality events, while inspiring students to embrace an international mindset and believe in the creative potential of Vietnamese talent.
As a CEO, he emphasized the importance of a cohesive, flexible team capable of handling crises, remarking that “no plan is ever perfect, so you must always have a backup.”
Continuing the program, Mr. Tris Trương took students behind the scenes of a music festival — where every idea is born, each plan is meticulously crafted, and crises are handled with creativity and composure. Through vivid real-life stories, he helped students gain a deeper understanding of teamwork, event management, and problem-solving in dynamic environments.
The speaker’s heartfelt sharing served not only as valuable professional lessons but also as practical guidance, empowering HUFLITers to enter the job market with greater confidence and readiness to reach new heights in the communications and event industries.
The talkshow was more than just a knowledge-sharing session — it was a space for genuine connection, where students engaged directly with an experienced and passionate professional. This close interaction fostered a warm, inspiring atmosphere, turning the program into a meaningful catalyst for learning, collaboration, and growth on HUFLIT students’ journey to mastering the art of event management.
