1. General Introduction

 

The Law major at HUFLIT trains students to become legal professionals with broad theoretical knowledge and solid practical skills. The curriculum emphasizes foundational legal knowledge, while also developing abilities in analysis, critical thinking, and solving legal issues across various domains of social life. Students learn in a dynamic environment under the guidance of experienced and passionate faculty. In addition, the program also focuses on cultivating soft skills and foreign language proficiency to prepare students for working in diverse and globalized contexts.

3. Distinctive Features of the Program

 

  • Specialized orientation aligned with practical demand: The Law program at HUFLIT guides students into two major legal fields: Civil Law and Criminal Law. Civil Law enables graduates to handle legal matters in contracts, assets, inheritance, marriage & family — issues common in both individuals and businesses. Criminal Law equips students to manage criminal offence cases from investigation through trial and enforcement, meeting growing demands from prosecutorial agencies, law firms, and legal departments. Starting specialization early helps students define their professional paths and develop expertise in specific legal areas, giving them a competitive edge in the legal job market.
  • Bilingual instruction, enhanced foreign language skills: Some specialized subjects are taught in English, helping students improve their foreign-language legal competence and access international-level materials.
  • Practical training and enterprise linkages: Students are given opportunities to engage with professional settings beginning in Year 2 via practical activities in courts, law offices, and governmental agencies—applying their knowledge in real-world contexts and building professional experience early.

5. Teaching Methods

 

The training program employs active learning, combining theory with practice. Students participate in discussions, mock trials, legal case studies, and internships at agencies and enterprises. Faculty are experienced legal practitioners who continuously update contemporary knowledge and support students’ learning.

 

6. Curriculum Structure

 

The Law curriculum at HUFLIT includes:

  • General education courses: Philosophy, Economics, Sociology, Foreign Language, Computer Science, etc.

  • Foundational legal courses: Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Administrative Law, Criminal Law, etc.

  • Specialized legal courses: Advanced Civil Law, Advanced Criminal Law, Advanced Administrative Law, International Law, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property Law, etc.

  • Internship and Graduation Thesis: Students intern at agencies and enterprises and complete a thesis under faculty supervision.

7. Career Opportunities

 

After graduation, Law major students may assume positions such as:

  • Legal officer in businesses, banks, financial organizations

  • Lawyer or legal assistant in law firms

  • Legal staff in state agencies or NGOs

  • Legal consultant in civil, criminal, administrative law

  • Lecturer or researcher in academic institutions

The starting salary ranges from 6 to 12 million VND per month, depending on the position and individual capability. With experience and advanced professional qualifications, the income can reach 15 to 20 million VND per month or higher.
