Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, presents the traditional flag of the People’s Committee to the leaders of HUFLIT
On October 30th, HCMC University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT) celebrated its 30th anniversary of establishment (October 26th, 1992 – October 26th, 2022).
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc, representatives of diplomatic missions, departments, foreign institutions, businesses, and a large number of faculty members.
In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – President of HUFLIT, reviewed the historical development milestones of the university and expressed his gratitude to the previous generations of leaders who contributed to the development of HUFLIT.
HUFLIT originated from the Saigon Foreign Languages and Information Technology Private University, established in 1992 as the first private university in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region. From the very beginning, the University’s founding Council identified that educational quality was a necessary condition and benefit for students, and the faculty would be the sufficient condition to help HUFLIT advance on the path of education. This has been the reason why successive generations of the university’s leaders have always strived to improve the organization, directing all resources and achievements accumulated through each period to upgrade the faculty and enhance the infrastructure and knowledge for the next generations of students.
Following the educational philosophy built and preserved by the first generation of university leaders over the years, with solid and accurate steps from the beginning, after nearly 30 years of establishment, HUFLIT has grown and developed to become one of the pioneering multi-disciplinary universities in training for language and information technology professions.
After 30 years of construction and development, the university currently has a team of 530 staff and faculty members, including 453 lecturers, consisting of 1 professor, 6 associate professors, 47 doctors, and 347 masters.
Currently, HUFLIT offers 13 undergraduate majors with 29 specialized fields and 2 graduate majors: Information Technology and Business Administration. As a multi-disciplinary university, many specialized subjects are taught in foreign languages, and students are equipped with information technology skills, enabling them to integrate well into the job market. The total training scale of the university currently exceeds 11,000 students. The university has trained tens of thousands of students for the country, actively contributing to the workforce training for the nation, with many holding high positions in various economic, cultural, artistic, and educational fields.
With the core values maintained since its early establishment and the focus on the goal of providing quality education, HUFLIT will continue to invest further in all aspects to bring the best experience and benefits to students within the university environment, aiming to realize the aspiration of enhancing the value of the national workforce in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular during the period of integration.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, congratulated and acknowledged the achievements and contributions to the development of education in general and higher education in particular by the collective generations of HUFLIT educators.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister also emphasized to the HUFLIT educators that the HUFLIT brand has been established, and the preservation and further development of the university must be the top priority that HUFLIT’s leadership and all staff members should strive for.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc, HUFLIT has trained and fostered tens of thousands of bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees, providing high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of foreign languages and information technology. HUFLIT’s graduates are highly valued by domestic and international employers for their knowledge, professional skills, technology application, and creativity.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc believes that in the current context, strong universities in Vietnam, including HUFLIT, need to continue to promote their traditions and pioneering roles in innovation, being ready to face difficulties and challenges, and turning them into motivation and opportunities.
The Deputy Minister is confident that with the remarkable achievements and illustrious traditions, HUFLIT will achieve even greater success and become a high-quality educational institution in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.
With the dedication to education over the past 30 years, HUFLIT is honored to receive the traditional flag from the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City as proof of its proud achievements. On this occasion, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also awarded the competitive flag to the university for its excellent completion of tasks in the academic year 2021-2022 and for leading in the competition among educational institutions in the city. Additionally, two individuals and eleven collectives from the university received certificates of merit from the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for their significant contributions to the university’s development.
During the ceremony, the announcement of HUFLIT’s two mascots, “Uncle Bear” and “Bee Fellow,” took place. While “Uncle Bear” represents traditional values and the characters who have accompanied and developed with HUFLIT throughout the past 30 years, “Bee Fellow” represents youthful, creative values that resonate with the younger generation of students and potential learners. Both mascots will accompany and engage in various activities to connect the university with students, showcasing HUFLIT’s commitment to making students the center of their focus./.
