International Linkage Program for HUFLIT Students

One of the highlights of HUFLIT is international cooperation activities with foreign schools, including: Exchange Program, International Semester Program, International Transfer Program. Each program is carried out under the commitment and agreement between HUFLIT and partner schools with the desire to bring students the opportunity to experience the learning environment in other countries.

I. OVERVIEW

1. Exchange program:

This is a program for HUFLIT students to participate and study full-time from 01 to 02 semesters at HUFLIT’s partner schools (link to partner schools below) to have the opportunity to experience an international learning environment, explore the diversity of cultures around the world, local customs and exchange with international friends.

Student benefits when participating in the program:

  • Full tuition exemption at partner schools abroad;
  • Practice and improve foreign language skills;
  • Receive a certificate of completion with transcript;
  • Study results from abroad are considered equivalent to subjects in the program at HUFLIT. Learn about the transfer procedure (link to the transfer procedure below).

Student obligations when participating in the program:

  • Self-funding expenses: round-trip airfare, student visa, accommodation, living expenses, personal expenses, etc. during study abroad;
  • Pay HUFLIT’s prescribed study abroad fees;
  • Pay tuition fees at HUFLIT corresponding to the subjects considered for equivalent recognition before departure.
  • It is not allowed to change the exchange period during the time abroad. If the student wants to extend or change, he/she must return to HUFLIT and start the registration process again.
  • After studying abroad, you will have to return to HUFLIT at the registered time.
  • Comply with the laws of the host country and the study regulations of the partner school.

2. International semester program:

This program is for HUFLIT students who wish to study full-time for 1 to 2 semesters at some partner schools that do not have an exchange program or schools that are not HUFLIT’s partners. You can register for this program with preferential costs from some schools.

3. International transfer program:

This is a study abroad program for HUFLIT students who want to save time and study abroad costs and receive an international degree from HUFLIT’s partner schools. Accordingly, after 1-2 years of studying at HUFLIT, students will complete the procedures to transfer credits from HUFLIT to the partner school and complete the remaining credits and receive the degree here.

III. DEPARTURE PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Passport

Currently, Vietnamese passports are valid for 10 years. Students must apply for or renew their passport before applying for a visa as many countries will not issue a visa or allow entry unless the passport is valid for at least 06 months. INSTRUCTIONS AND SUPPORT FOR AUSTRALIAN STUDENT VISA (Being updated)

It is the student’s responsibility to apply for a visa and pay the associated fees. Depending on the country and its requirements, visas can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to process. Students should visit the website of their country’s Embassy or Consulate General in Vietnam for the necessary application forms and apply as soon as they receive their Letter of Acceptance from the partner school.

3. Budget

Budgeting is essential when studying abroad. Depending on your lifestyle, each student will have a different budget. Below is a list of common expenses that should be planned for before departure:

  • HUFLIT tuition fees for each exchange semester
  • Study abroad fees
  • Student visa
  • Airfare (round trip)
  • Health insurance
  • Accommodation
  • Eat and drink
  • Textbook
  • Personal expenses
  • Travel and tourism

4. Accommodation

The partner school will provide dormitories or suggest a list of accommodations for students. Students can choose their own accommodation and must inform the person in charge of the partner school of their accommodation address.

5. Airport shuttle service

Some partner schools will provide airport pick-up service. Students should inform the person in charge of the partner school of flight information for convenient arrangement. If the partner school does not have this service, students must travel by public transport or taxi service. Students should contact the person in charge of the partner school for instructions.

6. Health insurance

  • Some partner schools require students to purchase health insurance as part of their admission requirements. Students should discuss with the partner school in advance to purchase the most suitable insurance. In cases where the partner school does not require health insurance, it is still necessary to cover emergencies.

7. Always keep in touch with HUFLIT program managers and partner schools

Always inform the person in charge at the partner school about the student’s travel or any plans to move out of the residence during the study abroad period. Keep in regular contact with the HUFLIT person in charge whenever the student has any problems during the program.

 

IV. TRANSFER SCORE PROCEDURES

  • At each semester that students complete, the partner school will issue a transcript and send it directly to HUFLIT’s Foreign Affairs Department.
  • Upon receiving the transcript (original or soft copy depending on the partner school), the Foreign Affairs Office will notify the student.
  • After completing the program and returning to HUFLIT to study, students should contact the Foreign Affairs Department to receive the original transcript (if it is a soft copy, the Department will send it via email); then, bring the following documents to the Faculty Office so that the faculty can transfer the score to the student:
    • Application for transfer of credits (Link);
    • Original transcript or transcript file;
    • Transcript translation certified by the Head of Department  (Link)

After the Faculty completes the transfer procedure, the Faculty will notify the student.
