Recently, the final round of the National Chinese Debate Contest – Danang 2022 with the theme “The role of youth in nation building and development” took place at the University of Foreign Languages – Danang University (UDN). The competition was organized by UDN in collaboration with the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association in Danang City, and the Consulate General of China in Danang. This event aimed to implement people-to-people diplomacy in Danang in 2022 and commemorated the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2023).

1The representatives and the contestants

This was the first time that the Chinese Debate Contest was held on a national scale, with the goal of enhancing friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and China, as well as encouraging the study of Chinese. The contest provided an attractive, healthy, and beneficial platform for Vietnamese youths who are interested in learning Chinese in Danang and other provinces and cities across the country. This year’s competition attracted 205 individual entries in the preliminary round from September 15th to October 31st, 2022. Contestants had to go through two preliminary rounds to advance to the final round. In addition to the prepared speeches on the theme, participants also had to answer counter-arguments from the judges to determine the most outstanding contestant.
