HUFLITers Explore Traditional Vietnamese Cuisine with the Fix My Food Workshop Featuring Miss World Vietnam 2019 Lương Thùy Linh.

Recently, HUFLIT’s Youth Union collaborated with UNICEF Vietnam to organize the Fix My Food workshop themed “The Journey of Vietnamese Flavors.” The program provided students with essential knowledge about healthy and nutritious food environments, raising awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition amid the widespread presence of fast food, as well as the value of traditional, nutrient-rich Vietnamese dishes. The workshop served as a step toward promoting a positive and healthy lifestyle within the HUFLIT student community.

In Vietnam, the initiative has been implemented since 2023 with the support of U-Report Vietnam and youth networks nationwide. Its activities focus on engaging young people in raising community awareness and promoting solutions that move toward a healthier food environment.

Continuing its mission to promote healthy living, Fix My Food and Miss Lương Thùy Linh returned with the fifth workshop, dedicated to traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The session offered a warm, nostalgic atmosphere filled with familiar flavors and plenty of joyful moments.

During the workshop, HUFLIT students took part in the “Flavor Decode” game, where teams worked together to identify the ingredients of traditional dishes. Through this activity, participants realized that each dish is not only a source of nutrition but also a piece of memory — a story that connects people, nature, and community. It reflects the Vietnamese philosophy of harmony, moderation, and closeness to nature.

The featured dish of this workshop was Phở chua Cao Bằng – a specialty of Cao Bằng province and the hometown of Miss World Vietnam 2019, Lương Thùy Linh. Representing the sophistication and harmony of Tày ethnic cuisine, phở chua combines gentle sourness, subtle sweetness, and rich nuttiness. It not only delights the taste buds but also nourishes the soul of every Vietnamese.

In the “Cooking Show” segment, Miss World Vietnam 2019 Lương Thùy Linh guided HUFLIT students through the preparation of phở chua, using fresh ingredients such as rice noodles, pork belly, liver, stomach, herbs, fried potatoes, and the signature mắc mật leaf sauce.

Beyond cooking techniques, students also learned about balanced nutrition based on the MyPlate model, how to combine healthy groups of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, as well as practical tips to “healthify” traditional dishes to better suit modern lifestyles.
