New regulations drive demand for cybersecurity talent

The rapid pace of digital transformation is placing ever higher demands on data protection and information system security. From 1 July 2026, a number of new regulations on cybersecurity and data protection officially take effect, creating a tighter legal basis for the management, storage and processing of data by organisations and businesses.

Under the new rules, businesses must take greater responsibility for protecting personal data, strengthen the security of critical information systems, and establish processes for risk management and response to cybersecurity incidents. This means organisations must invest not only in technology infrastructure but also in specialist personnel to operate, monitor and protect those systems.

Key changes include:

1. Greater responsibility for data protection

Under the new regulations, the collection, storage, processing and protection of data must be carried out in accordance with the law. Organisations must build rigorous data management processes and bear responsibility when incidents affect the information of customers and users.

2. Stronger protection for critical information systems

Sectors such as finance, banking, healthcare, education, energy, telecommunications and public services are all required to strengthen their capacity to protect information systems, and to proactively prevent, monitor and respond to increasingly sophisticated cyberattack risks. This means businesses need coordinated investment in both technology infrastructure and human resources to ensure stable, secure operations in the digital environment.

3. A focus on building specialist teams

Alongside investment in technology, many organisations and businesses are also strengthening dedicated cybersecurity teams to meet requirements for risk management, data protection and legal compliance.

These new requirements are driving recruitment demand for cybersecurity professionals across many sectors, including finance, banking, e-commerce, healthcare, education, manufacturing and state management agencies. Employers increasingly prioritise engineers and specialists able to build security systems, detect and handle incidents, assess vulnerabilities, analyse malware and manage risk in the digital environment.

As technologies such as AI, cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data continue to advance rapidly, cybersecurity is forecast to remain one of the fields with the highest demand for talent and to play a vital role in the digital transformation of businesses.
