Seminar for lecturers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages – “Multiculturalism and Social Changes in Modern American Literature”

On May 23rd, 2022, the Faculty of Foreign Languages organized a seminar for lecturers with the theme “Multiculturalism and social change in modern American literature”. The keynote speaker was Professor Dr. Robert Adams, a Fulbright scholar from Florida Atlantic University (USA).

According to Professor Robert, modern American literature in the 20th and 21st centuries has been influenced by global social and cultural changes, such as the end of colonialism and the subsequent shift towards globalization, nationalism and ethnic movements, Marxist philosophy, the women’s liberation movement, the environmental protection movement, spiritual and religious beliefs, and more.

The faculty lecturers engaged in discussions and listened to Professor Robert’s insights on issues related to contemporary American authors, literary works, teaching methods in literature, and incorporating current global issues such as environment, gender, multiculturalism, etc., into the classroom.

In the future, the lecturers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages will continue to participate in various academic seminars to enhance their knowledge. With a focus on organizing effective and practical activities to improve teaching skills, facilitate knowledge sharing, and elevate the quality of education, these activities will undoubtedly contribute to promoting the educational activities of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and HUFLIT as a whole in the coming academic years.
