What is the Chinese Language field?

Chinese Language is a field that trains in depth the capacity to use Chinese in communication, work and specific career areas. Students not only learn Chinese characters – oral speech – listening, speaking, reading, writing skills, but are also equipped with knowledge of Chinese culture, history and society and specialised Chinese to work in a multicultural environment.

Career opportunities: Chinese – the foreign language “leading in demand”

Chinese Language is one of the trending fields of study chosen by many young people thanks to wide-open job opportunities and attractive income. According to labour-market statistics, personnel who know Chinese have a significantly higher income than workers who don’t use a foreign language; the recruitment demand for Chinese is superior to many other foreign languages.

In 2025, the market recorded nearly 13,000 new jobs requiring Chinese, a strong increase compared to previous years. This shows that enterprises increasingly need personnel who are both good at foreign languages and understand the work, instead of only knowing the language alone.

After graduating from the Chinese Language field at HUFLIT, students can work in many fields:

• Business – trade: sales staff, purchasing, customer care, supporting Chinese partners.
• Communication – press: Chinese translation – interpreting, corporate communication staff.
• Administration – services: secretary, assistant, administrative specialist, event organisation, tour guide.
• Education: teaching Chinese, study-abroad consulting.
• Healthcare (a new direction): medical secretary, international patient coordinator, medical-record management, supporting medical services in Chinese at hospitals, insurance companies, medical-equipment companies and digital healthcare platforms.
• Other fields: working in a multilingual environment, combining Chinese with English, Japanese, Korean… according to enterprise needs.

In addition, Chinese Language bachelors can continue to study at the postgraduate level, do in-depth research on linguistics, Chinese culture or teach Chinese as a foreign language.

At HUFLIT, the training programme focuses on the ability to apply the language in reality: communicating in enterprises, drafting documents, translation – interpreting, handling professional work and quickly adapting to career requirements after graduation.

The Chinese Language training programme at HUFLIT

The Chinese Language field at HUFLIT has been officially taught since 1997, with more than 26 years of training experience. The programme is built along the orientation of application – professional standard – tied to market demand, helping students form career capacity right during the study process.

Currently, students can choose 6 specialisations suited to their personal orientation:

1. Office Management Chinese: Equipping knowledge of administration – clerical work – reception – assistant and modern office management. The programme strengthens specialised course units in Chinese, integrating smart management and AI application, helping students work professionally and effectively in the enterprise environment.
2. Business Chinese: Training the capacity for communication, document drafting, negotiation and e-commerce operations in Chinese. The outstanding point is the ability of Chinese – Vietnamese translation – interpreting in the real business environment.
3. Chinese – English bilingualism: Helps students flexibly use two foreign languages in communication, handling work, administrative documents and bilingual transactions, suited to the international working environment.
4. Tourism Chinese: Training applied Chinese in travel – services – destinations. Students are trained in the skills of narration, leading groups, designing tours, situation handling and multicultural communication according to the tourism professional standard.
5. Teaching Chinese: Developing Chinese-teacher capacity according to the professional standard: from teaching methods, lesson design, classroom management to applying technology in teaching. The programme has a clear pedagogical-internship roadmap, helping students be ready to teach in reality.
6. Medical Chinese (applied from the 2026 course) A new specialisation, training the capacity to use Chinese in the healthcare environment. Students study medical terminology, communicate with patients, manage medical records, access the HIS/EMR system, while also training basic medical translation – interpreting skills and hospital familiarisation.
   

Throughout the study process, students carry out subject projects, familiarisation, internships and real-world experience, helping knowledge not stop in the lecture hall.

The lecturer team includes Masters and PhDs trained in Vietnam and China, rich in teaching experience and professional practice.
