In order to provide students with the opportunity to access more practical perspectives on entrepreneurship, on the morning of December 8, 2022, at the Conference Room, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology, the workshop “Entrepreneurial thinking and application in the Hotel and Tourism industry” took place.
Attending the workshop was Dr. Carla Riverola, a lecturer at Griffith University (Australia) – a public research university in Southeast Queensland, Australia, specializing in environmental science and Asian studies.

At the beginning of the seminar, Ms. Michelle Hoang Walker – Regional Admissions Representative of Griffith University provided some information about incentives for HUFLIT students when choosing to study abroad at Griffith. Specifically, if students enroll as transfer students from HUFLIT, they will enjoy priority for IELTS English entry standard of 6.0, instead of 6.5 for other subjects. In addition, students with a cumulative average score above 6.5 will also have the opportunity to receive a scholarship of 20 – 25% of the entire course tuition fee.

Following the program, Dr. Carla Riverola shared with the students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality basic knowledge about entrepreneurship, thereby helping them have an overview of entrepreneurship. In addition, Dr. Carla Riverola also pointed out the lack of fairness in the entrepreneurship environment, as well as the lack of female entrepreneurs and the imbalance in racial diversity. Therefore, Dr. Carla Riverola expressed her hope that HUFLIT students will be successful entrepreneurs in the future to prove that success in entrepreneurship is not limited by age, gender, or race.

During this session, students also discussed and came up with startup ideas from suggested common objects such as water bottles, socks, cauliflower, sticks, pillows, etc. The student group with the most unique and best ideas will receive a prize from Griffith.

With the interesting sharing of Dr. Carla Riverola, the students have learned many useful lessons and have a comprehensive view of start-up activities. In addition, the program also contributes to affirming and promoting the effectiveness of cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology and Griffith University, contributing to creating opportunities for HUFLIT students to exchange and learn.
