Organized by WRIN, a student group from HUFLIT’s Faculty of International Relations and Communication, the event attracted more than 400 students, offering practical insights into a profession driven by passion and filled with challenges.
“Sportbeat: The Rhythm of Sports” created a dynamic space for interaction between students and football reporters. The program aimed to bring sports closer to the public — not only through events and achievements, but through the journeys, efforts, and passion of athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts.
Accompanying the students was guest speaker Phan Đăng Huy, a football reporter from BongDa.com.vn. Devoted to sports journalism, he has covered matches at stadiums across Vietnam and abroad, capturing authentic and emotional moments of Vietnamese football. Notably, in 2018, he reported directly from Changzhou—the site where Vietnam’s U23 team made history amid the falling snow—an experience that left him with a profound memory of “belief,” a value he continues to carry throughout his career.
Students gained a deeper understanding of sports journalism—from the challenges of field reporting and the pressure behind every news segment to the joy and pride of living with one’s passion. Beyond sharing honest and inspiring stories about the profession, the talkshow also aimed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and professional responsibility among young people pursuing communication.
The event served as an opportunity to connect students with the world of sports in a way that is authentic, relatable, and full of enthusiasm.
At the event, Phan Đăng Huy shared valuable knowledge and experiences from his journey in sports journalism — a profession that demands passion, resilience, and unwavering perseverance. From a childhood love for football, he gradually built his career through continuous learning, overcoming challenges, and constantly improving himself.
He also spoke about his real-world reporting experiences, how he gathers and processes information, and how he adapts to the digital era by developing a sports-themed TikTok channel to spread his love for football to young audiences. Through his stories, he conveyed a message of belief, persistence, and lifelong learning — guiding principles for anyone pursuing their passion with determination.
The talkshow “SportBeat – The Rhythm of Sports” not only provided authentic and insightful stories about the world of sports journalism but also left a meaningful spiritual impact on attendees. Through the speaker’s inspiring sharing and the lively exchange atmosphere, the program ignited in students a strong sense of passion, curiosity, and the desire to pursue and commit to their chosen paths.
