Cultural Colors – Asia Convergence at “Oriental Festival 2025”
This year’s festival impressed with its welcoming gate decorated with unique mascots of Eastern countries.
The 2025 Oriental Festival has returned to HUFLIT students with a new look but still retains its original annual features. The highlight this year is the theme “East Asian Cultural Exchange”, recreating the characteristics of five Eastern countries through creative mascots: Koi Fish (Japan), Panda (China), Elephant (Thailand), Buffalo (Vietnam) and Tiger (Korea). These symbols not only contribute to enriching the festival space but also strongly depict the cultural identity of each country.
The “Oriental Festival” organized by the HUFLIT Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures brought a colorful cultural experience through stalls of folk games and traditional costumes of five countries: Vietnam, Korea, Japan, China and Thailand. The event attracted the attention and enthusiastic participation of a large number of staff, lecturers and students of the whole school, becoming a unique cultural meeting point in the academic life and extracurricular experiences of HUFLIT students.
The experiential booths at this year’s Oriental Festival bring a vivid cultural picture through a series of unique folk games: bamboo grasshopper stacking (Vietnam), Ttakji paper beating and Hanbok folding with flower paper (Korea), Kendama – a traditional wooden game (Japan), Phuang Malai flower wreath making (Thailand), to iconic Chinese folk games.
Not only that, the area for trying on traditional costumes and the “Teacher” booth for writing calligraphy also attracted many students to experience, contributing to creating a festival space imbued with Asian identity, both academic and intimate.
“Myriad Colors of Sound” is a special highlight within the framework of the 2025 Oriental Festival. The music night turned the 6th floor Hall into a brilliant art stage, recreating the spirit of five Oriental countries through each performance. With the participation of HUFLIT students and art clubs from other schools, the program not only stirred up the festival atmosphere but also brought a complete artistic experience, connecting passions and spreading cultural values.
In particular, two performances from lecturers of the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures “burned” the stage of the music night “Thousands of Sounds”. Not only did they leave a strong impression with their meticulousness and talent, the performances of the teachers were also a vivid demonstration of the spirit of companionship and attachment with students in all Union and Association activities. This inspiring appearance added energy, spread the bond between teachers and students, creating unforgettable moments in the hearts of attendees.
Closing the colorful journey, the Oriental Festival 2025 has left unforgettable impressions in the hearts of HUFLIT students. Not only is it a useful cultural playground, the program also opens up a space for exchange and learning between East Asian cultures, contributing to connecting students of all majors and nurturing the spirit of respecting traditional cultural values. On the journey of exploring the world and acquiring new knowledge, HUFLIT students will continue to be “cultural ambassadors”, contributing to spreading Vietnamese identity internationally with their own expertise and foreign language skills.
