HUFLIT STUDENT ONE DAY AS CANADA’S CONSUL GENERAL
As the contestant with the best article in the contest “A day as a Consul General” organized by the Consulate General of Canada, 4th year student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages – Nguyen Thi Thien Nga was the only contestant to receive the honorable award: Experience one day as a Canadian Consul General.
Nguyen Thi Thien Nga, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), was honored to become the winner of the “One Day as a Consul General” contest organized by the Consulate General of Canada and was honored to experience being the Consul General of Canada for a day. On March 4, 2024, at the French Palace (6 Le Duan, District 1), along with 4 other contestants who were also winners of the “One Day as a Consul General” contest of the Consulates General of France, Germany, the UK and the US, Thien Nga had an exchange session, sharing inspirational stories about the spirit of overcoming difficulties; pursuing goals to the end, not giving up when empowered, about gender equality, the right to education… of women in the young generation of Vietnam.
As a “Consul General of Canada”, Thien Nga had the opportunity to experience an interesting schedule: At the beginning of the day, Thien Nga was picked up by the Canadian Consulate General’s car at her home and met and worked with the current Canadian Consul General. After that, Nga met with the Consul Generals and the winners of the “A Day as a Consul General” contest from the Consulates General of France, Germany, the UK and the US. Thien Nga left a strong impression with her creativity, practical thinking and fluent English communication skills. She also did not hesitate to share her views with the Consul Generals and colleagues.
After a meaningful and emotional day, Nguyen Thi Thien Nga shared: “Experiencing a day as the Canadian Consul General is a memorable memory and marks an important milestone in my time as a student at HUFLIT. When talking directly with Consul General Annie Dube, her story inspired me a lot and helped me broaden my perspective. In addition, I also feel proud of myself when I confidently expressed my thoughts and opinions in front of other Consuls General.”
This event is not only an opportunity to experience but also a stepping stone for her to strive to develop herself, aiming for higher goals in the future. Let’s congratulate and accompany Nguyen Thi Thien Nga on the path to conquering her dream.
