Explore the fascinating stories behind the spotlight of directors at the talk show “Million-View MV or Million Pressures?”
The talk show “Million-View MV or Million Pressures?” takes participants behind the scenes of the MV production industry, where creative inspiration meets harsh realities. It features director Vo Huy Thang, the mind behind numerous million-view MVs for artists such as Bui Truong Linh, Lou Hoang, Cao Thai Son, Thai VG,…
The program, organized by the KINDERGARTEN group – students from HUFLIT’s Faculty of International Relations and Communications – provides students with an opportunity to explore authentic aspects of MV directing. Beyond theory, the talk show shares untold behind-the-scenes stories, valuable lessons, and the silent pressures behind million-view music videos.
With the aim of helping students understand the core role of an MV director – the person who shapes the emotion, aesthetics, and message of each music product – the program offers real-world insights into the profession and inspires those pursuing a professional artistic career.
Leading the session to reveal the lesser-known aspects behind the spotlight of a successful MV – where passion and pressure go hand in hand – is director Vo Huy Thang, who has six years of professional experience and has directed numerous million-view MVs such as Gio Thi (Bui Truong Linh), Bat Coc Con Tim (Lou Hoang), Khoc Giua Troi Mua (Cao Thai Son), Tu Hao Viet Nam (SPACEX Dance Group), Viet Nam Muon Doi (Thai VG, Mikelodic & Liu Grace), among many other notable works.
During the talkshow, the director shared deep and valuable insights through two main aspects. First, Director Vo Huy Thang provided an overview of the MV director’s role and analyzed how it differs in nature and responsibilities from stage or film directing. He also discussed the challenges encountered while directing and shared strategies for overcoming difficulties, particularly in teamwork.
Through his sharing, students gained an understanding that the creative and production process of an MV is far from a path of roses. It is a process of developing ideas and turning the impossible into reality. The talk helped students grasp essential skills such as scriptwriting, concept selection, and the stages involved in MV production. Director Vo Huy Thang also openly revealed the “dark corners” and challenges of the profession during production, providing students with practical knowledge and valuable lessons for their future careers.
The atmosphere at the talkshow “Million-View MV or Million Pressures?” was incredibly lively and energetic, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the students. Questions about scriptwriting skills, overcoming creative barriers, and tips for pursuing a directing career were asked continuously, reflecting the students’ eagerness to learn and passion for the arts. In response, director Vo Huy Thang shared approachable, sincere, and inspiring insights drawn from his own professional journey.
The program concluded in a cheerful and warm atmosphere, marked by memorable moments: friendly handshakes, bright smiles, and motivating conversations. The talk show not only provided valuable knowledge but also served as a powerful catalyst, igniting students’ spirit of initiative and artistic creativity, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with passion and courage.
