Phuong Uyen is a girl who easily finds inspiration in simple and sincere things.
“I’m always drawn to the fast-paced and exciting atmosphere when preparing for an event, and I feel truly happy when it ends successfully. What moves me the most is seeing the smiles and satisfaction of the participants.”
It was these genuine feelings that sparked her passion for Public Relations (PR) and inspired her to follow this path.
When Passion Begins with Understanding
Uyen recalled an unforgettable experience back in high school when she tried to persuade her classmates to join a flashmob performance but failed.
“I was really disappointed at that time,” she admitted. “I even started doubting myself and blaming others.”
After listening to her friends’ reasons, she realized a valuable lesson about empathy.
“I reminded myself that I need to listen more and look at things from different perspectives, instead of focusing only on my own expectations.”
That was the moment Uyen understood what PR truly meant — connection.
“This passion has given me unforgettable experiences and emotions I truly treasure,” Uyen said with a smile. “I realized that sincere connection and understanding are what take you further in PR — not the glamorous image people often see.”
Overcoming Prejudice
When choosing her major, Uyen faced many doubts and stereotypes:
“Why choose that major?” “What can you even do with it?”
Those comments made her question her decision and lose confidence in her passion.
“At one point, I even considered changing to another major,” she confessed.
During that time, Uyen happened to meet Ms. Bich Lan, from the Faculty of International Relations and Communication — HUFLIT, during an admission counseling session.
“I feel so lucky to have met Ms. Lan. Her sincere words reignited my passion and gave me the motivation to stay true to my choice,” Uyen said.
The doubts faded away, replaced by hope and confidence in her upcoming university journey.
“That moment, I knew I made the right decision. For the first time in a long while, I felt like I was being true to myself — following what my heart really wants.”
HUFLIT – Where Passion Begins
HUFLIT has become the perfect place for Uyen to nurture her passion.
“After just one month of studying here, thanks to my enthusiastic lecturers and the practical lessons, I realized PR is much deeper and more meaningful than I thought,” Uyen shared.
Like many new students, she initially feared she wouldn’t fit in. But those worries quickly disappeared.
“HUFLIT’s lecturers are so energetic and engaging, and my classmates are friendly and open-minded,” Uyen said.
“I think that I’ve chosen the right place to build my future,” she added.
Starting the Journey of a “Kind PR Practitioner”
Phuong Uyen’s journey — from a shy high school girl doubting her choices to a confident university Top Scorer — is proof that passion grows stronger when it finds the right environment.
