Do you have an idea, a story, or simply something you want to share? Then a podcast could be your perfect “playground”!

At the “Talk & Create” talk show recently held at HUFLIT, speaker Phan Thao Phuong – host of numerous podcasts with 12 years of experience – had students laughing, nodding in agreement, and even pausing in thoughtful reflection as she shared the “raw truths” of her journey to becoming a storyteller through audio.

Organized by AURA – the student group from HUFLIT’s Faculty of International Relations and Communication – the “Talk & Create: The Art of Podcasting” talk show attracted over 300 students to attend and interact. The event offered students not only the chance to explore the emerging field of podcasting but also the opportunity to hear firsthand experiences of content production from someone who started from scratch.

Speaker Phan Thao Phuong shares her personal experience in podcasting.

The Journey of a Storyteller

Speaker Phan Thao Phuong is currently the CEO and founder of PTP Production. With over 12 years of experience in media and entertainment, she has held key roles such as Production Manager and Film Director at Yeah1 TV, and served as the production director for numerous popular podcasts on VIVODIO.

More than just a seasoned professional, she embodies the spirit of creative daring – starting from a small microphone to having her voice reach thousands of listeners. Each of her shares offered an authentic glimpse into the creative podcasting journey, from the early days with simple equipment to broadcasting stories that resonate with thousands. Her sincerity, approachability, and passion deeply touched many students, inspiring them to trust in their own voices and stories.

During the talk show, she began with her personal story – the first, awkward recordings and the journey of finding a sympathetic listener community. According to her, podcasting is not a race of equipment or technical skills but a heartfelt storytelling journey, where sincerity is the key to retaining an audience.

Her sharing focused on practical topics such as generating ideas, scriptwriting, recording techniques, and post-production. Beyond professional knowledge, Thao Phuong emphasized the mindset of daring to act, experiment, and embrace mistakes – essential qualities for anyone starting in the world of podcasts and aiming to build their own storytelling space.

An essential part of the talk show focused on keeping the passion alive and maintaining motivation when starting a podcast project. Phan Thao Phuong admitted that there were times she felt discouraged due to few listeners or lack of positive feedback. What kept her going was her passion for the stories she wanted to tell and the genuine connection with her audience.

The Q&A session became lively with students asking questions such as, “How can I overcome shyness when recording alone?” or “What can I do to keep my podcast interesting?” The speaker responded thoughtfully, emphasizing that everyone has a unique voice and style, which is precisely what makes a podcast stand out. She also shared tips on generating ideas to keep each episode engaging for listeners.

The talk show “Talk & Create: The Art of Podcasting” concluded in a warm and inspiring atmosphere. Phan Thao Phuong’s honest and practical insights gave HUFLIT students both the motivation and knowledge to begin their own podcasting journey. The event was not only a starting point for students to gain confidence in their creativity but also opened a wide door for personal stories to be shared and appreciated in the digital age. Podcasting, as highlighted, is more than just a tool for conveying information – it is an emotional bridge where individual stories are celebrated and heard.
