HUFLITers Spread Positive Values and a Spirit of Contribution to Mark the 76th Anniversary of Vietnamese Students’ Traditional Day and the Vietnam Students’ Association (9 January 1950 – 9 January 2026)

Over 76 years of formation and development, Vietnamese Students’ Traditional Day and the Vietnam Students’ Association have become a milestone rich in meaning, bound up with the history of struggle, construction and development of generations of Vietnamese students.

Within that current, the Vietnam Students’ Association at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT) solemnly held a ceremony marking the 76th anniversary of Vietnamese Students’ Traditional Day and the Vietnam Students’ Association (9 January 1950 – 9 January 2026), and honoured the “Five Merits Students” of the 2024–2025 academic year.

Speaking at the programme, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University – acknowledged and commended HUFLIT students for their serious approach to study, their dynamism and creativity, and their sense of community responsibility in recent times. He affirmed that the University always stands alongside its students, creating the conditions for them to develop fully and to carry forward the fine traditions of Vietnamese students in this period of integration.

Continuing the programme, Ms. Nguyen Vo Huyen Tram – President of the University Students’ Association – looked back on 76 years of tradition in the student movement and the Vietnam Students’ Association, kindling pride, noble ideals and a spirit of contribution among HUFLIT students.

Commendation for the Command Board of the HUFLIT Green Summer volunteer campaign 2025

As part of the programme, the University presented commendations to the Command Board of the HUFLIT Green Summer volunteer campaign 2025 under Decision No. 56/QD-DNT dated 9 January 2026. The campaign ran from 17 July 2025 to 14 August 2025 with many practical volunteer activities directed at the community and the localities where the volunteers served.

The commendation is the University’s timely recognition of the Command Board’s sense of responsibility, initiative and effort in organising and coordinating the campaign, which helped create the positive marks left by HUFLIT student volunteering in 2025.

Commendation for collectives and individuals with achievements in culture – the arts – physical education and sport

Alongside their studies and volunteering, HUFLIT students took an active part in cultural, artistic and sporting competitions in 2025 and achieved many outstanding results. At the programme, the University commended the student collectives and individuals who achieved high results in city-level and regional competitions and tournaments.

Notable results such as Third Prize at the “Volunteer Dance” competition, Runner-up at the HDBank Futsal Tournament for Ho Chi Minh City Students, a Bronze Medal at the Ho Chi Minh City Open Student Vovinam Championship and a Consolation Prize at the Ho Chi Minh City Open Cross-Country Running Championship for Pupils and Students have helped portray HUFLIT students as dynamic and resilient, with a strong focus on physical training and a rich inner life.

Under the commendation decisions issued, the total reward budget for collectives and individuals with outstanding results in these competitions was VND 14,500,000, reflecting the University’s attention to and encouragement of the student movement.

Honouring the “Five Merits Student” title and exemplary students

The “Five Merits Student” movement continues to be rolled out widely at HUFLIT, aiming to build an image of students who develop fully across the criteria of ethics, study, physical fitness, volunteering and integration. In the 2024–2025 academic year, the selection process was carried out rigorously to ensure quality and wide influence.

As a result, the University had 02 collectives awarded the “Five Merits Student Collective” title and 115 students awarded the “Five Merits Student” title at various levels, including 01 student awarded the title at city level. The University honoured 117 collectives and individuals, with a total reward value of VND 81,900,000, drawn from the Student Scholarship – Reward Fund.

Among the outstanding individuals honoured, student Nguyen Vo Huyen Tram – President of the University Students’ Association and a student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages had the honour of receiving the “January Star” Award 2025 from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Students’ Association. This is a distinguished award for Association officers and students with outstanding achievements in study, personal development and Association work, and is further proof of the resilience, intellect and spirit of contribution of HUFLIT students in the new era.

The ceremony marking the 76th anniversary of Vietnamese Students’ Traditional Day and the Vietnam Students’ Association (9 January 1950 – 9 January 2026); honouring the “Five Merits Students” of the 2024 – 2025 academic year came to a close with many meaningful moments. Every achievement is not only a source of personal pride for the students, but also helps spread the positive values of the dynamic, humane educational environment the University is building. Building on the marks already recognised, HUFLIT students are expected to keep striving, taking the initiative and growing in confidence on their journey of study, personal development and contribution to the community in the time ahead.
