HUFLIT New Graduate Đặng Ngô Thuỳ Linh: Bravely Passing Through the First-Year “Missed Beat” to Reach Out

Behind Thùy Linh’s radiant smile on the day of receiving her degree is a very ordinary story but powerful enough to move anyone who has ever wobbled before the threshold of adulthood.

Removing the “invisible burden” to lightly step far

Born in a simple family with her father a motorbike-taxi driver and her mother a homemaker, Thùy Linh carried into the lecture hall not only the aspiration for knowledge but also an invisible financial burden.

It was in the most pressured moment that Thùy Linh found a supporting “embrace” from the HUFLIT home.

“Thanks to the timely and transparent connection from the University through the Student Support Fund, my family and I shed part of the pressure. My university journey became much lighter and more solid,” Linh emotionally recalled. When the worry about tuition receded behind, that was also when Thùy Linh was ready for the real race.

Not afraid of stumbling, only afraid of not daring to “correct mistakes”

Youth is rarely a straight line, and Thùy Linh also once had her twists. In the first year of university, out of eagerness to be independent and share the burden with her family, Linh threw herself into part-time work. The inevitable consequence: The distraction made her study results stop only at the Fairly Good level.

For many people, that is a safe result. But for Linh, it was a wake-up bell. Thuỳ Linh entered the second year with a sharp decision: Temporarily setting aside all part-time work, pouring 100% of her energy into the lecture hall. “If I get to study, I must give my all,” Linh told herself.

That decisive “transformation” brought sweet fruit beyond imagination. Two consecutive years, Thùy Linh transformed spectacularly, excellently winning the double title of “Talented HUFLIT Student” together with two scholarships worth 60% of tuition. Looking back at the first-year mistake, she smiled and summed up: “No stumble is meaningless. Every challenge brings a valuable lesson”.

Completing the brilliant university-journey picture

Possessing an impressive academic-achievement record, Thùy Linh shared that the secret to the Accounting student maintaining her form lies in balance: “Both studying and experiencing”.

The university journey does not stop at the lecture hall. In the role of Chairperson of the ABS HUFLIT Economics Club, Linh actively organised talkshows, events, led delegations to real-world experiences at enterprises. That dynamic environment gave Linh a flexible soft-skill set and an invaluable connection network.

More than that, Linh calls her university journey a stroke of luck for meeting ‘the right person, the right time’. In the most wobbly turns, the practical care and timely encouragement from Ms. Tuyết Như (lecturer of the Faculty of Economics – Finance) helped Linh untangle the psychological pressure and become more solid on her path.

Closing the bachelor journey with the plan to continue conquering the postgraduate level, Đặng Ngô Thuỳ Linh’s story quietly conveys a strong message: An empathetic educational environment, combined with a will that does not resign itself to stumbling, is the perfect launchpad for every student to freely create the most brilliant version of themselves.
