Recently, the Faculty of Foreign Languages held the Thesis Defense Ceremony for 34 students from the Class of 2022, representing the English Language and Chinese Language majors, at the Sư Vạn Hạnh campus.

The event was not only an opportunity for students to present and convey ideas they had developed over months of research, but also a significant milestone marking the end of their 3.5-year journey of learning, effort, and dedication. With 34 diverse research topics across the two majors, the ceremony reflected the depth and variety of academic orientations pursued by HUFLIT students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

Although the ceremony was divided into two sessions (morning and afternoon), many students arrived early to thoroughly prepare for their presentations. Each thesis represented a process of rigorous research, thoughtful investment, and dedication — a clear reflection of HUFLIT students’ academic competence and their ability to apply specialized knowledge in practical contexts.

Student Huỳnh Đăng Khoa presented his thesis titled “Investigating Prevailing Error Patterns within English-Vietnamese Translation 1 Course by HUFLIT’s English Majors: Reality and Solutions”, which explores common translation errors among English Language students at HUFLIT and proposes practical solutions for improvement
Faculty members of the Thesis Defense Committee attentively listened to the students’ presentations.

The ceremony attracted a large number of underclassmen, especially students from the Chinese Language major, who came to support and cheer for their seniors. More than just an opportunity for final-year students to present the results of their academic and research efforts, the thesis defense also served as a valuable academic orientation, allowing younger students to observe and learn from the presentation techniques, critical thinking, and practical application of specialized knowledge demonstrated by their peers.

The Thesis Defense Ceremony for the Class of 2022 concluded in a formal, professional, and emotional atmosphere, marking a proud and memorable milestone in the academic journey of HUFLIT’s Faculty of Foreign Languages students. From this point forward, they carry with them the knowledge, confidence, and passion nurtured during their studies, ready to embrace future challenges and opportunities.

Student Lê Phạm Minh Anh presented her thesis titled “Research on the Theory and Application Model of Immersive Language Teaching — Aiming to Enhance Chinese Speaking Skills of HUFLIT Chinese Language Majors.” The study explores the principles and practical framework of immersive language teaching methods to improve the oral proficiency of HUFLIT students majoring in Chinese Language.
