HUFLIT Chinese Language Club officially launches with the “Watch Movies – Learn Chinese 2023” contest
This is an opportunity for students to increase their passion for learning foreign languages, have the opportunity to practice and improve their Chinese language and cultural understanding, and at the same time, for students to show their creativity, communication skills, and dubbing talents. The contest is named “Watch Movies – Learn Chinese 2023” – 2023年“看电影-学汉语”比赛.

Here is a brief overview of the Chinese Language Club. This club was established in September 2023 and is directly managed by the Faculty of Foreign Languages to create a playground for students with a common interest in learning about the Chinese language, culture, society, and history of China.
Being the 2nd time to organize the “Watch Movies – Learn Chinese 2023” contest and the first activity carried out by the HUFLIT Chinese Language Club since its re-establishment, this contest has brought extremely new changes. Right from the qualifying round, the contestants have impressed with their unique and creative video entries, conveying meaningful stories and messages from many aspects of life. Based on the online votes of the audience, the 08 entries with the highest scores have emerged to advance to the semi-finals and finals.

The semi-finals and finals of “Watch Movies – Learn Chinese 2023” took place with the participation of 40 contestants from different universities and the enthusiastic support of more than 300 students.
The organizers also invited 03 judges, including: Dr. Pham Thi Duyen Hong – Head of the Practical Chinese Language Department, Ms. Le Thi Diem Thuy – Lecturer of the Chinese Language Department and Ms. Le Thi Hong Nga – Lecturer of the Chinese Language Department.

In the semi-finals, the 08 teams brought their own unique colors through the dubbing performances for classic movie scenes. The performances were equally talented and competitive. After the competition, the judges had to consider carefully to select the best teams to advance to the next round.

With the desire to help students understand that watching movies is also a good way to learn foreign languages, the contest also included a section to test their expertise knowledge such as looking at pictures to guess place names, looking at Chinese characters to guess the pronunciation, arranging sentence structure, etc. In this section, the “Trung Tieng Yeu” team excellently surpassed their opponents in the additional competition – direct interaction with the judges to win the championship.

The organizers hope that through this contest, the students had moments of fun while watching movies and learning Chinese effectively. The organizers also hope that you can find a suitable method to learn Chinese to improve your skills.
