Studying abroad in Japan for students participating in the exchange program and Spring 2024

The information session was attended by Dr. Tran Van Tieng – Head of the Faculty of Oriental Languages ​​& Cultures, MSc. Nguyen Thi Thieu – Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs, teachers and lecturers of the Japanese Department and especially parents and students who are currently and will be participating in the exchange program in Japan. 

At the program, M.A. Nguyen Thi Thieu – Head of HUFLIT Foreign Affairs Department gave many pieces of advice to students about 6 things to keep in mind when studying and living abroad, especially in Japan: When in Rome, do as the Romans do, respect the local culture; Actively integrate and proactively learn; Manage time and expenses well; Take care of yourself, exercise; Be proactive in communication, always keep in touch with the person in charge; and especially, Always maintain a good image because you are the representatives of HUFLIT students in particular and Vietnamese youth in general.  

On the side of the Oriental Faculty, Dr. Tran Van Tieng – Head of the Faculty shared more about professional issues, specifically how to choose subjects so that it is easy to transfer credits to HUFLIT after completing the exchange program. Mr. Huynh Thanh Long gave notes on entry, issues related to residence cards, registering phone numbers, renting accommodation, etc. 

In addition to the teachers from the departments, faculties, and subjects, there were also HUFLITers who have participated in the student exchange program at HUFLIT’s Japanese partner schools. They gave a lot of advice, tips, and answered questions such as what luggage to bring, what means of transportation, etc. and promised to help wholeheartedly when the new students arrived in Japan.  

The interesting thing is that the students who are studying abroad today were also sitting here in a state of anxiety and confusion last semester. And in this sharing session, you played the role of connecting, helping the “juniors” reduce their anxiety and hesitation when first exposed to a completely new environment. 

The sharing session became more special with the participation and contributions of parents of students. In addition to thanking the Department and Faculty for organizing this meaningful meeting, Mr. Le Van Tho – Parent of Le Van Tai (who is about to participate in the exchange program at Bukkyo University) also said: “I hope that students studying abroad will always try to preserve, study well, and strive to be able to return to serve the country in the future .”
