Recently, the Information Technology Faculty Union organized the Program of Connecting and Exchange to Welcome New Students of the Information Technology Faculty – “IT Unite 2024” with 02 activities: Team Building “Code Together, Grow Together” at Gia Dinh Park and Gala Show “Digital Dreams” and at Agora, Su Van Hanh campus (HUFLIT).
Team Building activities take place with 06 main game stations: Passing the ball with chopsticks, Matching knowledge pictures, Digital road, Building a castle for the princess, Folk idioms, Jumping rope over ramparts .
Before going to the main game stations, the Organizing Committee let the new students participate in the game “Birds out of the cage” to pair 06 members into 01 team. Next, to find the route to the stations, the teams must participate in the game “Decode the mystery” . The Organizing Committee provides a code containing 02 to 09 errors and any integer arrays along with a simple guess with detailed instructions on how to solve it. The task of the teams is to count the number of errors in the code. Then, the teams will convert the number of errors into binary code and take the last 04 digits of the binary code to perform addition or subtraction on the numbers in the array provided from the beginning in order from left to right. The teams will use that result to enter the edited array of numbers into the code provided by the Organizing Committee. From the result of the code, the teams will find the keyword, this keyword will give the teams different routes to move to the station.
At station 1 , the Organizing Committee will provide each team with 01 ball and 06 pairs of chopsticks. The first person of each team will use chopsticks to pick up the ball from the starting line. The ball will be passed to each team member with chopsticks in order from the first person to the last person.
At station 2 , the Organizing Committee will provide a mosaic of HUFLIT facilities to the teams. Each team has 30 seconds to observe the picture and memorize it, then put the pieces together. After 5 minutes, the teams will review the picture once. After completing the picture, the teams must correctly answer the name of the facility in the picture.
At station 3 , the Organizing Committee will create a frame of 50 boxes. The task of the teams is to hold hands and line up vertically. The first player steps into box 01. After the first player moves into box 02, the second player will step into box 01. Then, the first player continues to step into box 03, the second player steps into box 02, and the third player steps into box 01. The team continues to move like this until the last person in the team steps out of box 50. The teams must keep close together and not let go of each other during the entire movement.
At station 4 , the Organizing Committee provided each team with pieces of A4 paper of the same size. The task of the teams was to build a 3- story high paper castle for the princess. The castle had to stand for 10 seconds after completion.
At station 5 , the Organizing Committee will provide a proverb or folk song related to the topic of Vietnamese women. Each team will send 02 members to look at the topic. These two members will have to convey the proverb/folk song using body language and words, but cannot use keywords in the proverb/folk song. The remaining members of the team will guess the sentence based on suggestions from their teammates.
At station 6 , each team sends out 4 members to participate in the jump rope game, 2 members hold the rope and 4 members must jump rope 10 times in a row without interruption.
After completing 06 stations, the program found 04 excellent teams to win the highest prize of the program. In which, there were 02 teams sharing the second prize.
At 5:00 p.m. on the same day, the Gala Show activity was also organized in the form of a music night with vibrant singing and performing performances on the theme of Vietnamese women on the occasion of the Vietnamese Women’s Day October 20 to honor the beauty of Vietnamese women in general and female lecturers and students of the Faculty of Information Technology in particular.
Hopefully the program has brought new students of the Faculty of Information Technology many wonderful and memorable experiences, and made many new friends to accompany them on their university journey.
