Proud to be HUFLITers #07 | M.A. Tran My Uyen – A lectern where a teacher wishes only to “watch her children grow up”At the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages, M.A. Tran My Uyen (Vice Dean) goes by many names. Some call her “Ms My”; her students call her “mother”. Colleagues often compare her to Mother Au Co with a hundred children. Yet to become the “mother” of the lecture hall she is today, she went through a profound shift in thinking that completely changed a teaching philosophy built over more than 30 years.

Full Text of the HUFLIT Rector’s Speech at the 2026 Graduation Ceremony: “Happiness and Freedom Based on the Foundation of Morality and Intellect”
Respected delegates, Respected parents, Respected teachers, Together with all the dear new bachelors,
Today is a truly beautiful day, a day of joy, of pride, of gratitude and also a very moving day for all of us. In the solemn atmosphere of the 2026 Bachelor’s Graduation Ceremony, allow me, on behalf of the University, to send the new bachelors the warmest congratulations.
You have completed an important stage of study in your life. The degree you receive today is not only the result of the exams, the credits and the years of diligent study, but also proof of your persistence, resilience and never-give-up spirit.
Dear students, Life has never been a smooth road. Over the past years, the world has gone through many upheavals: the pandemic, war, energy crises, economic instability, natural disasters, epidemics and the successive disruptions of global life. Those upheavals remind us that what we should wish for is not a life without storms, but an inner self strong enough, a body healthy enough, a will durable enough and a heart brave enough to get through every difficulty.
That is also what I want to send you today. When stepping out of this gate, you will step into a larger but also more demanding world. You will encounter pressure, competition, the first failures of your life, moments of confusion and even unexpected turning points. But remember: you are the outstanding children of HUFLIT. HUFLIT people are not used to surrendering to adversity. Whatever the situation of the world, we turn with it. Whatever the circumstances, we find a way to adapt, grow and rise up. Nothing makes us falter, if inside we still keep our willpower, self-respect and aspiration to move forward.
On this joyful day, I want to talk to you about a very important virtue: gratitude. The further a person goes, the more they must learn to bow their head in gratitude. Be grateful to our beloved Fatherland Vietnam, because you got to grow up in peace, got to study in a stable country that is opening up opportunities. Be grateful to your parents, the people who silently sacrificed so much so that you could have this day. Be grateful to your teachers, the people who patiently accompanied, guided and supported you. Be grateful to your friends and teammates, the people who went with you through the exams, the group assignments, the stressful times and also the joys of youth. A grateful heart is a heart with roots. And only a person with roots can go far.
I also want to take a moment of silence to talk to you about youth. Today, in your hands there is not only the graduation degree. In your hands there is also an asset much more precious, which is youth. Youth is the most beautiful period of a person’s life, because it is when we have the most energy, the most dreams and the most ability to change our destiny. But youth is also the thing that will pass the fastest and never return. Therefore, use your youth usefully. Cherish yourself, cherish time, cherish health, cherish your character. Do not let the most beautiful years pass in waste or superficial living. Study, go, experience, contribute, live in such a way that when you look back, you can smile that: “I did not fail the most beautiful years of my life”.
Respected everyone,
Recently, with the strong development of artificial intelligence – AI, many people worry that AI will take away humans’ jobs. We want to say here, on your graduation day, that please rest assured, everyone and students: AI cannot replace humans. AI only replaces the people who don’t know how to take advantage of the gift of technology that humankind itself has created.
At HUFLIT, we do not avoid AI, we are not afraid of AI, but proactively step forward to learn and master AI. We equip students with the knowledge and capacity to use AI as a powerful tool to enhance productivity and work efficiency, like a tiger growing wings, able to increase labour productivity 10 times, 100 times. That shows HUFLIT’s strong momentum in the new era, and also affirms one thing very clearly: HUFLIT does not train students for the past, but trains students for the future.
To the parents who have children preparing to enter university, we would like to share a belief: at HUFLIT, students not only get to learn professional knowledge but are also prepared to step into a new world – where humans must know how to learn for life, know how to master technology, know how to combine human intelligence with artificial intelligence to create outstanding value. That is HUFLIT’s advantage and also our commitment to the learners’ future.
At HUFLIT, we always believe in a simple but profound philosophy: pursuing happiness and freedom based on the foundation of morality and intellect. Today, I want to send that philosophy as a graduation gift for you. Happiness does not come from momentary luck. Freedom is also not doing whatever you want. True happiness comes when you live meaningfully, live true to your values and know how to create value for others. True freedom comes when you have enough knowledge to understand the world, enough morality not to lose your way, and enough mettle to master your own life.
On this occasion, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the parents. Thank you for trusting to entrust your children to HUFLIT. Thank you for accompanying your children throughout the past journey with love, sacrifice, patience and tireless belief. The connection between the school and the family is always a very precious binding glue, because education has never been the work of the school alone or the family alone. Only when we accompany and nurture the young generation together with love and responsibility can we contribute to training citizens useful for society.
Respected everyone, respected teachers and new bachelors,
Today is a day of congratulation, but also a day of beginning. A chapter of the book closes so that another horizon opens. From today, you carry not only a degree, but also the honour of a graduate from HUFLIT, the trust of the family, the expectations of the teachers, and the responsibility towards the life that you will continue to write with your own hand.
Reach out to the world with a grateful heart, a never-give-up spirit, the mindset of a person ready to learn for life, and mettle strong enough to turn challenges into opportunities. Remember that, wherever you are, you are always HUFLIT people – people who can get through adversity with willpower, step into the future with intellect, and make this life better with their own character.
Once again, congratulations to all the new bachelors. Congratulations to the parents, the teachers, and congratulations to all of us for having reached this day together – a truly beautiful, memorable and worthy day.
Respectfully, thank you.
