Foreign Language Students Shine in the National Chinese Speech Contest Final – Da Nang 2022
On November 10, 2022, the Final Round of the National Chinese Speech Contest – Da Nang 2022 was held at the University of Foreign Language Studies, University of Danang (UFL – UD). This prestigious event, themed “The Role of Youth in Nation-Building and Development,” brought together talented students from across Vietnam to showcase their linguistic and public speaking skills. Organized as part of the 2022 People’s Diplomacy Program in Da Nang, the contest commemorated the 73rd anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2023). The event was jointly hosted by UFL – UD, the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-China Friendship Association of Da Nang, and the Consulate General of China in Da Nang.

The first nationwide Chinese speech contest of its kind, the event sought to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China while promoting the study of the Chinese language among Vietnamese youth. It provided a vibrant and educational platform for students passionate about Chinese to connect and grow. The contest saw participation from 205 individual submissions representing 17 provinces during the preliminary round, held from September 15 to October 31, 2022. Contestants advanced through two challenging qualifying rounds to secure their place in the final, where they delivered speeches on the central theme and answered incisive questions from a panel of esteemed judges.

HUFLIT was proudly represented by two second-year students, Pham Vu Thao Vy (class TTM2103) and O Minh An (class TTM2101), nominated by the Faculty of Foreign Languages. These outstanding students demonstrated remarkable confidence and skill as they delivered compelling speeches and responded thoughtfully to the judges’ questions. Their efforts earned them the Consolation Prize, a significant achievement in a highly competitive and prestigious contest.
The contest concluded with great success, leaving participants enriched with invaluable knowledge, experiences, and friendships. For the HUFLIT students, the competition provided an opportunity to demonstrate their linguistic abilities, cultural knowledge, and critical thinking skills, underscoring the quality of education at HUFLIT. The university’s emphasis on language training, cultural enrichment, and personal development was evident in their impressive performance.

This achievement not only highlights the dedication and talent of HUFLIT’s students but also reflects the university’s commitment to excellence in language education and global engagement. As the Chinese Language Studies program continues to nurture well-rounded individuals, HUFLIT’s reputation as a leader in foreign language education is further solidified. The success of students like Thao Vy and Minh An is a testament to the university’s efforts to prepare its graduates to excel on both national and international stages.
