Young people easily lose their way because they study a lot but lack goals

With a down-to-earth, sincere and highly practical style, the speaker offered many fresh perspectives on young people’s journey of self-study and self-development. According to Dr. Nguyễn Vinh Quang, CEO of the Qedu career and skills organisation, Development Director of the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (Germany), and Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam – Australia Innovative Startup Association, many students today easily fall into a state of scattered study or a lack of motivation because they do not yet have a clear personal direction. Therefore, he emphasised: “Determining your future goal plays an important role in helping each person focus on developing the right skills needed, instead of studying on momentary inspiration”.

In his sharing, the speaker also emphasised that every skill needs time to be honed. Success does not come from knowing many things at once but from focus and persistence with the chosen goal. Contents such as building a LinkedIn profile, writing a blog, making a portfolio and developing digital and foreign language skills are considered important steps that help students raise their personal value and increase their competitive advantage in the future.

In particular, the message “dare to try and fail” became a memorable highlight of the programme. According to the speaker, failure is not something to fear but is exactly the opportunity for each person to grow and improve themselves more each day.

Dr. Nguyễn Vinh Quang affirmed: “Self-development is the convergence of Vision – Skills – Action. But for that machine to run, you need a Growth Mindset to always be proactive, and most importantly, you must dare to try and fail, because that is the only way we truly grow”.

At the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages, M.A. Tran My Uyen (Vice Dean) goes by many names. Some call her “Ms My”; her students call her “mother”. Colleagues often compare her to Mother Au Co with a hundred children. Yet to become the “mother” of the lecture hall she is today, she went through a profound shift in thinking that completely changed a teaching philosophy built over more than 30 years.
