HUFLIT and WKU student exchange: cultural connection and multidimensional cooperation
As part of a series of cooperative activities with international universities, HUFLIT collaborated with Wonkwang University (WKU), Korea to organize an exchange session to introduce Vietnamese history and culture to WKU students.
In the context of friendship and cooperation between universities around the world being increasingly encouraged, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT) and Wonkwang University (WKU) of Korea organized a connecting program for students of the two schools. The event not only served as a bridge between students from two different countries but also as an opportunity for HUFLITers to shine and introduce the diversity of culture, heritage, and culinary landscape of Vietnam.
The event took place with the participation of 5 soldiers and 51 students from the Faculty of Military Science , Reserve Officer Training Corps of WKU. On the HUFLIT side, besides the head of the delegation, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Vice Principal, there were many students majoring in Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures.
The exchange program is designed with diverse and rich content. The morning begins with a class on Vietnamese history and culture by Dr. Hoang Nguyen Phuong – Deputy Head of Oriental Studies. The afternoon is an opportunity for students of the two schools to visit places in the city center such as the War Remnants Museum, Ben Thanh Market, City Post Office, etc.
Each WKU student has had unique experiences and memories imbued with Vietnamese culture. “ I was impressed to realize that not every country is as proud of its culture as Vietnam. I really look forward to participating with Vietnamese students in many more exchange activities. The students were very friendly and interesting, so I had a great time ” – shared by Kim Dong Won, a WKU student.
It can be said that the exchange is not only an opportunity for students to experience cultural diversity but also an opportunity to strengthen the cooperative relationship between HUFLIT and WKU. The moments of interaction, sharing and learning will empower young cultural ambassadors, bringing the image and values of the nation and national culture to international friends.
Since 2017, the student exchange program cooperation agreement between HUFLIT and WKU has opened the door for unique learning and cultural experiences. Since then, WKU has received 23 exchange students from HUFLIT (especially 11 students in the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year).
Let’s look forward to the next exchange activities, where the beauty of Vietnam and Korea will continue to be discovered and shared!
