If in some professions, candidates can make a mark with creativity or diverse experience, then in the legal field, recruiters prioritise evaluating a solid professional-knowledge foundation, the ability to argue tightly and clear analytical thinking.

Besides, the factors of professional ethics, carefulness and a spirit of responsibility are also placed at the top. Therefore, to conquer recruiters in this field, candidates not only need to demonstrate capacity but must also show sharp legal thinking and a professional, serious working style.

From those particular requirements, the Youth Union – Student Association of the HUFLIT Faculty of Law deployed the seminar “Interview and recruitment skills in the legal field: From the lecture hall to career practice”, with the participation of two experts in the legal field. The programme not only helps students consolidate foundational knowledge but also emphasises the role of proactively training skills, ready to adapt to the real career environment.

In the context of an increasingly competitive labour market, interview skills become an important factor that helps students approach career opportunities. Not only demonstrating capacity, this skill also requires confidence, logical thinking and the ability to improvise flexibly.

The seminar had the participation of speakers rich in experience in the legal and management fields. MA. Lawyer Phạm Thị Mỹ Vân – an expert with more than 15 years of experience in corporate legal affairs and labour-dispute resolution – together with Dr. Hồ Hoàng Đức, Dean of the HUFLIT Faculty of Law, with more than 30 years of management experience at the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, brought practical perspectives on the recruitment process, evaluation criteria and requirements for law-field candidates in the current context.

Dr. Hồ Hoàng Đức – Dean of the HUFLIT Faculty of Law shares practical issues with the students

At the seminar, through the two topics “The art of building a recruitment application” and “The art of interviewing the recruiter”, MA. Lawyer Phạm Thị Mỹ Vân focused on sharing the core skills in the application process, from building the application to the interview. According to the speaker, the application not only provides information but also demonstrates the candidate’s thinking and image, so it needs to be presented logically, selectively and highlight suitable strengths. In the interview round, students need to prepare carefully, build clear answers, while also demonstrating confidence, communication ability and flexible improvisation.

Adding a practical perspective, Dr. Hồ Hoàng Đức emphasised the criteria that recruiters particularly care about, such as professional capacity, work attitude and a spirit of responsibility. Accordingly, candidates not only need knowledge but must also demonstrate seriousness, suitability with the career environment and a long-term development orientation.

  • Proud to be HUFLITers #07 | M.A. Tran My Uyen – A lectern where a teacher wishes only to “watch her children grow up”
At the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages, M.A. Tran My Uyen (Vice Dean) goes by many names. Some call her “Ms My”; her students call her “mother”. Colleagues often compare her to Mother Au Co with a hundred children. Yet to become the “mother” of the lecture hall she is today, she went through a profound shift in thinking that completely changed a teaching philosophy built over more than 30 years.
