On May 26, 2023, the 2023 Chinese Bridge Competition was held at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, gathering 25 exceptional contestants from 23 universities and colleges across southern Vietnam. Organized annually by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City, the competition is a prestigious platform designed to foster cultural and linguistic exchange between Vietnam and China, strengthening ties between the two nations.

This year’s competition embraced the meaningful theme “One Family, One World,” challenging contestants to navigate through three demanding rounds that tested their linguistic proficiency, cultural knowledge, and artistic talents. Representing HUFLIT, student Ong Gia Hao delivered an outstanding performance that captivated both the judges and the audience. His profound speech highlighted the depth of his understanding of Chinese culture, while his skillful demonstration of paper-cutting art showcased his creativity and dedication to mastering traditional Chinese crafts.
Despite the fierce competition from talented participants, Gia Hao’s exceptional efforts earned him the Consolation Prize, bringing pride to HUFLIT and serving as an inspiration to his peers in the Chinese Language Studies program. His performance exemplified the high caliber of language education at HUFLIT and underscored the university’s commitment to nurturing students who excel both academically and artistically.
The 2023 Chinese Bridge Competition provided more than just an opportunity to compete; it was a platform for students to connect and learn from peers who share a passion for the Chinese language and culture. Participants gained invaluable experiences and insights, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect within the Chinese language learning community.

Gia Hao’s success at the competition is a testament to HUFLIT’s focus on holistic education, combining linguistic excellence with cultural appreciation and personal growth.
