Further affirming training quality, HUFLIT accredits 2 master’s programmes

Quality accreditation of training programmes is a mandatory requirement for higher education institutions in Vietnam. It is the activity of assessing and recognising the extent to which a training programme meets the quality assessment standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Carrying out accreditation not only meets the requirement of accountability to stakeholders but also demonstrates the University’s commitment to assuring and improving training quality and building a civilised, friendly environment in which learners can confidently choose to study and complete their studies with peace of mind. 

With a learner-centred strategy and its role as a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, HUFLIT identifies educational quality accreditation as one of its key activities and regularly conducts self-assessment and quality improvement to meet educational quality accreditation standards. 

Since 2022 to date, HUFLIT has successfully accredited 7 undergraduate programmes (English Language, Information Technology, Business Administration, Accounting, International Business, Economic Law and Oriental Studies) and met the institutional quality accreditation standards for cycle 2, granted by the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. With these positive results, HUFLIT has continued with the accreditation of 2 master’s programmes in Information Technology and Business Administration.  

Accordingly, from 29 October to 1 November 2024, the external assessment team came to the University to appraise its files, interview stakeholders, assess the quality of the 2 master’s programmes and carry out a number of other activities.   

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Hong – Leader of the external assessment team presented the preliminary assessment results for the 2 master’s programmes. The experts assessed that both programmes are continuously reviewed and improved to respond promptly to society’s development trends as well as stakeholders’ needs. A number of outstanding activities in postgraduate training were highly appreciated. This also provides a basis and motivation for the University to continue improving training quality and accompanying its learners.  

Alongside building on existing strengths, the external assessment team also identified issues requiring improvement and offered practical recommendations to address them and raise the training quality of the 2 programmes in the future. 

In her closing remarks, MA. Ho Dac Hai Mien – Deputy Director of the Center for Education Accreditation, VNU-HCM, extended sincere thanks to the University for its warm welcome and dedicated support, which helped the assessment proceed smoothly and swiftly. She also expressed the hope that the results of this assessment would help the University improve, refine and raise the training quality of the 2 programmes in the future. 

On behalf of HUFLIT, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Rector of the University extended sincere thanks to the external assessment team for their professional work and the practical observations they made throughout the external assessment process. He emphasised that the results of this assessment bring value not only to the 2 master’s programmes in particular but are also highly useful to the University in its overall development and improvement of training quality. The team’s recommendations will help the University identify more clearly the areas needing improvement, and from there build a concrete action plan to raise training quality.

It is believed that the results HUFLIT has achieved from this external assessment will be an important foundation for the University to build on and improve, delivering a quality learning environment for its learners.
