Scholarships ‘boost’ high-school students on the journey of developing foreign languages

The HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages deployed a study-encouragement scholarship programme with a total value of up to 50 million VND for students at Sương Nguyệt Anh High School, Nguyễn Khuyến High School, Lê Trọng Tấn High School, Trần Quang Khải High School and Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa High School. These scholarships are not only recognition of a positive learning spirit but also add motivation for the students to confidently pursue the journey of developing knowledge and foreign language capacity in the future.

The programme is not only practical encouragement helping students step firmly at the threshold of university, but also tightens the educational cooperation relationship between HUFLIT and the high schools. Through that, the Faculty of Foreign Languages wishes to build a cohesive academic environment that inspires and accompanies the young generation on their development journey.

At the scholarship-awarding ceremonies, M.A. Bùi Thị Thanh Trúc – Dean, and M.A. Trần Mỵ Uyên – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages – came to each high school to directly hand over these scholarships. The close attention of the Faculty Board once again affirms the commitment to accompany and share with students on the road to conquering knowledge.

The IELTS seminar brings many practical learning experiences

Not stopping at financial support, the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages understands that knowledge and learning methods are the long-term ‘key’ for students. Therefore, in parallel with awarding scholarships, the Faculty organised a series of academic seminars to bring students more practical knowledge, effective learning methods and a clearer perspective on developing foreign language capacity in today’s context of integration.

At Lê Trọng Tấn High School, the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages organised a seminar on the theme “Conquering IELTS Speaking & Listening 8.5” with M.A. Nguyễn Quang Huy – a lecturer of the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages. Through practical sharing, effective learning methods and useful IELTS revision experience, the seminar brought students more perspectives and motivation to confidently improve their English capacity, especially in the two skills of Speaking and Listening. The lively exchange atmosphere and the active participation of students contributed to creating a meaningful and practical academic session.

It can be said that the series of scholarship-awarding and seminar activities affirmed the solid bridging role of the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages with the high schools. Not only bringing practical values in terms of both material and knowledge, the programme also created a cohesive educational environment – where students get access to practice, career orientation and confidently prepare their luggage for international integration.

At the HUFLIT Faculty of Foreign Languages, M.A. Tran My Uyen (Vice Dean) goes by many names. Some call her “Ms My”; her students call her “mother”. Colleagues often compare her to Mother Au Co with a hundred children. Yet to become the “mother” of the lecture hall she is today, she went through a profound shift in thinking that completely changed a teaching philosophy built over more than 30 years.
