A training programme tied to career reality

In the context of the ever more strongly developing cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Japan, the demand for human resources who are good at Japanese and understand Japanese culture is also constantly increasing.

To meet this demand for high-quality human resources, HUFLIT has designed a highly personalised training programme. Accordingly, based on their own career orientation, students can flexibly choose to study:

• The Japanese Language programme
• The Japanese Studies specialisation (belonging to the Oriental Studies programme)

For the Japanese Language programme, the training programme aims to equip students with an in-depth foundation of knowledge about the Japanese language, culture and society. Students are oriented towards two specialisations comprising business Japanese and Japanese language teaching. From there they develop the ability to use Japanese in academic and business environments at the JLPT N2 level.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Studies specialisation belonging to the Oriental Studies programme helps students gain a more comprehensive view of Japan’s country, culture, society and people. The programme focuses on combining knowledge of the country, foreign languages and professional skills, opening up many job opportunities in fields that use Japanese. Graduating students will reach a Japanese level equivalent to JLPT N3.

In addition to specialised Japanese course units, students also study many subjects related to Japan’s culture, society, economy and life, making language learning more practical and vivid. Besides that, students also train critical thinking, communication skills, teamwork, scientific research and the ability to adapt to a modern working environment.

A dynamic learning environment with many experiential activities

One of the common challenges when learning a foreign language is the lack of a regular practice environment. Understanding that, alongside specialised classes in the lecture hall, HUFLIT places special emphasis on building a diverse extracurricular programme to strengthen the ability to use Japanese in a real-world environment.

The Japanese Club is where students can train communication, teamwork, event organisation and exchange with fellow students who share the same passion for Japanese culture. Many interesting activities are organised regularly such as the Anime Dubbing contest, the Explore Japan contest or workshops experiencing traditional Japanese culture.

Students also have the opportunity to take part in film screenings, cultural experiences at the Consulate General of Japan and to meet and exchange with delegations of Japanese students coming to HUFLIT. These activities not only help students increase their confidence and train language reflexes but also cultivate a deep understanding of the local culture.

The University also regularly organises talkshows and experience-sharing sessions with alumni, enterprises and partners to help students gain more practical perspectives on their future careers. In addition, business visits and observation trips are also deployed periodically so that learners can approach the real working environment right from their time at school.

Modern facilities support learning

A big plus that helps HUFLIT Japanese Language students study effectively is the methodical investment in experiential spaces and learning materials at both campuses. Just step into the library and you can tap into an extremely rich store of textbooks and specialised materials at any time. And if you want to “touch” real culture, the Japanese culture room at the Hóc Môn campus is the dedicated space corner that brings you extremely close and visual experiences.

Many opportunities to study and exchange in Japan

Not stopping at domestic experiences, HUFLIT’s positioning to reach international stature is also strongly affirmed through its extensive partner network in Japan, opening up countless opportunities to go abroad for students.

Students have the opportunity to take part in exchange programmes, short-term study or study abroad at many of HUFLIT’s partner universities in Japan such as Teikyo University, Bukkyo University, Ibaraki Christian University, Kobe International University, Fukui University, Ryukoku University, Toua University, Kyushu Sangyo University…

In particular, through the “Explore Japan” contest held annually, the group of students who win first prize will have the opportunity to experience studying in Japan for 2 weeks sponsored by the MANABI Japanese Language Institute. This is not only a reward for outstanding students but also an opportunity to experience the culture, learning environment and rhythm of life in Japan.
