Scholarships give a boost to HUFLIT Chinese Language students on their journey of integration

On the morning of 12 May 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT) held a scholarship award programme from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Ho Chi Minh City for students of the Chinese Language programme, together with a thematic report on Vietnam – China relations. The programme was not only an occasion to honour students with outstanding academic achievements but also opened a meaningful space for academic exchange on Vietnam – China cooperation in the context of international integration.

At the programme, the Deputy Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, Xu Zhou, on behalf of the Consulate General of China, presented a scholarship fund worth 50 million VND to 25 students of the Chinese Language programme with outstanding academic and training achievements. The scholarships not only carry the meaning of practical material support but are also a great source of spiritual encouragement for the students on their journey to conquer a foreign language and integrate internationally.

Attending the programme, on behalf of the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City were Mr Xu Zhou – Deputy Consul General and Ms Zhao Jienan – Deputy Consul. On the HUFLIT side were representatives of the university’s Board of Rectors, lecturers and a large number of students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of International Relations and Communications.

Spreading global thinking and the role of young people in connecting Vietnamese – Chinese culture

Alongside the scholarship award activity, the programme also brought a thematic session on the topic “Vietnam – China relations: Comprehensive strategic cooperation in the new period and opportunities for the young generation” presented directly by the Deputy Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City. Through deep and highly practical sharing, the theme helped students gain a more multi-dimensional understanding of Vietnam – China cooperation in the new context, while opening up many perspectives on the trend of international integration, the demand for high-quality human resources and career development opportunities in today’s globalising environment.

In his sharing, the Deputy Consul General particularly emphasised the importance of foreign languages, global thinking, technological ability and cross-cultural communication skills for the young generation in a context of increasingly deep and wide international integration. He also encouraged students to keep learning, proactively adapt to the changes of the times, and actively perfect themselves to raise their competitiveness and be ready to seize development opportunities in the international environment.

When asked about how to seize opportunities in the new era, the Deputy Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City shared the message “Language is the foundation, vision is the scale, technology is the tool, communication is the bridge”. Along with this were 4 keywords for young people: improving foreign languages, broadening international thinking, embracing new technology and strengthening cross-cultural communication.

At the same time, the Deputy Consul General also “revealed” that HUFLIT students will continue to receive much attention in educational cooperation programmes, scholarships and academic exchanges in the coming time, thanks to the close relationship between the two units over the years.

The event gave students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of International Relations and Communications the chance to broaden their understanding of the diplomatic environment and international cooperation in the context of integration. At the same time, the programme also helped evoke the role of young people as “cultural bridges”, continuing to cultivate and promote Vietnam – China cooperation through the knowledge and responsibility of the new generation.

The open atmosphere of exchange, together with practical sharing from the Consulate General’s representative, helped inspire and orient students’ careers in a context of increasingly deep and wide integration.

Through the programme, HUFLIT continues to strongly affirm its orientation towards the internationalisation of education, focusing on building a dynamic, modern and highly connected academic environment to create conditions for students to access study opportunities, international cooperation and cultural exchange in the context of global integration.

At the same time, the event also contributes to strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between HUFLIT and the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, creating a foundation for many cooperation activities in the fields of education, culture and academia in the future. Through this, HUFLIT students not only improve their professional ability and foreign languages but are also equipped with global thinking, integration skills and confidence, ready to adapt to an increasingly dynamic and competitive international environment.

Colleagues often compare her to Mother Au Co with a hundred children. Yet to become the “mother” of the lecture hall she is today, she went through a profound shift in thinking that completely changed a teaching philosophy built over more than 30 years.
