Some call her “Ms My”; her students call her “mother”. Colleagues often compare her to Mother Au Co with a hundred children. HUFLITers Bring an East Asian Spirit to Ignite Creativity at “Event Master 2026”
Entering its most important competition night, “Event Master 2026” – the contest to find an all-round Event Organiser held by the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures at HUFLIT – brought together the finest teams after a dramatic journey of competition.
More than just a place to demonstrate organisational thinking, teamwork and situation-handling ability, the programme also offered a professional event experience right in the lecture hall. With the theme “An East Asian Imprint”, the K29 students created colourful performances through the forms of Fashion Show, Talent Show, Talkshow and Music Show, clearly showing their creativity, proactive spirit and ability to apply the knowledge of the “Conference and Meeting Organisation Skills” module in practice.
The final night had the honour of welcoming the presence of the Board of the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures, Dr. Hoàng Nguyên Phương – Vice Dean, and the lecturers of the Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese Studies programmes. On behalf of the businesses and sponsors were Mr Nguyễn Ý Nhạc – General Director of GU Vietnam, Mr Lưu Quốc Đạt – MC of the Feature Programmes Department at Ho Chi Minh City Television, and Mr Dương Quang Lộc – Director of HV Holdings Global Co., Ltd, which owns the ABERA Group brand ecosystem.
Opening the programme, the Fashion Show “Oriental Beauty” led the audience into a colourful cultural space through a performance of traditional ao dai together with distinctive costumes of Korea, Japan, Thailand and China. Against a backdrop of each country’s folk music, each design not only celebrated the beauty of the costumes but also evoked the depth of East Asian cultural identity.
Next was the Talent Show “Eastern Aura”, where the acts were carefully staged, harmoniously combining a modern spirit with traditional elements. This blend created an energetic performance space, delivering a complete emotional experience for the audience.
Closing the series of contents, the Talkshow “The East Asian Weddings” opened a journey to explore the wedding cultures of Vietnam, Korea and Japan through two themes, “Wedding Colours” and “The Language of Rituals”. Alongside in-depth sharing from the speakers, the programme also visually re-enacted rituals such as Hop Can, San-san-kudo and Pyebaek right on stage, combining academia and performance to deliver an experience that was both lively and rich in cultural depth.
The acts in the Talent Show “Eastern Aura” were uniquely and carefully staged, blending a youthful modern culture with traditional elements to deliver a feast of emotion for the entire audience.
The Talkshow: The East Asian Weddings led the audience on a journey to explore the beauty of the wedding cultures of the three countries of Vietnam, Korea and Japan through two main themes: ‘Wedding Colours’ and ‘The Language of Rituals’. Not only bringing in-depth sharing from the speakers, the event skilfully combined theory with real scenes by vividly re-enacting sacred rituals such as Hop Can, San-san-kudo and Pyebaek right on stage, delivering a cultural experience that was rich in academic value, visually pleasing and full of emotion.
Closing the programme, the Music Show “Trust Your Light – Eastern Star” spread the message: everyone has their own “light”. Through the narrative thread of “A Play of the Stars” combined with a live band, the night opened an impressive multinational musical journey, with outstanding acts such as “Into the New World” (Korea), “Hong Chieu Nguyen” (China), “Summertime” (Japan), “Whatever” (Thailand) and “Minh Yeu Tu Bao Gio” (Vietnam). The blend of the stage story and the music created an emotional highlight, contributing to completing the picture of “An East Asian Imprint” in full.
Assessing the project, Mr Nguyễn Ý Nhạc, General Director of GU Vietnam, acknowledged the professionalism of the students’ organisation. “From the perspective of a professional event organiser, I highly appreciate the way you organised the talkshow in line with a real business format. The narrative flowed smoothly, stirred emotion, and the visual projection was very carefully invested” – said Mr Nguyễn Ý Nhạc.
Expressing pride after the programme, Tống Kiết Tường – Head of the Student Project Organising Committee – expressed pride that “Event Master 2026” did not stop at being a module but became a memorable milestone of the collective’s growth. “From studying theory to running a complete programme with our own hands, despite no shortage of hardships, everyone kept striving for the finest performance. This complete achievement is the effort of every member of the ‘Oriental Beauty’ family, and we can be entirely proud of that”.
Based on criteria of professionalism in organisation, creative thinking and the ability to handle real situations, the judging panel announced the final results.
– First Prize: Music Show “Trust Your Light – Eastern Star”
– Second Prize: Talkshow “The East Asian Weddings”
– Third Prize: Fashion Show “Eastern Charm – Oriental Beauty”
– Consolation Prize: Talent Show “Eastern Aura”.
“Event Master 2026” showed that traditional values can fully “live” in a modern space when retold with creative thinking, while becoming more familiar through vivid, emotion-rich experiences. This is exactly the academic spirit at HUFLIT, where the lecture hall does not stop at theory but opens a space for students to actively explore, connect knowledge with practice and step by step affirm their mettle on the journey of integration.
From those experiences, each student not only perfects their professional ability but also gradually becomes a “cultural bridge”, carrying the responsibility to spread and promote traditional values through the knowledge, mettle and perspective of a new generation.
