HUFLITers Explore Saigon with the 2025 Freshmen Welcome Field Trip
With the theme “HAPPY PIG-NIC,” the 2025 Freshmen Welcome Field Trip organized by the Youth Union – Student Association of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality offered an exciting journey of exploration. Students experienced a series of creative game stations inspired by iconic and familiar landmarks across Ho Chi Minh City.
The 2025 Freshmen Welcome Field Trip featured five unique game stations inspired by Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic landmarks: the Municipal Theatre, the Independence Palace, Tao Đàn Park, Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street, and the Saigon Central Post Office. At each station, freshmen took on engaging challenges that not only enriched their knowledge but also offered opportunities to connect, interact, and explore the city’s culturally and historically significant destinations.
At the Tao Đàn Park Station, teams participated in the game “Lightning Speed,” a challenge requiring quick reflexes and agility. In each round, 2–3 team members followed color-based commands and performed the required actions. Anyone who reacted incorrectly or too slowly was eliminated, and the last remaining player earned points for their team. The game brought plenty of laughter while helping students develop flexibility and effective teamwork.
At the Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street Station, teams received group photo pose requests from the Organizing Committee and had to work together to recreate the required poses. This activity tested coordination, creativity, and teamwork, bringing fun and memorable moments to the participants.
At the Independence Palace Station, participants joined the “Ball and Sticks” game. Players tossed a ball into the air and quickly picked up the required number of sticks before the ball touched the ground. The challenge demanded dexterity and quick reflexes. Each team that completed two successful rounds earned 20 points.
At the Saigon Central Post Office Station, teams participated in the “Mystery Luggage” game. The Organizing Committee prepared a suitcase filled with familiar travel items (such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, boarding pass, etc.). Each team selected one representative to reach into the suitcase and describe the item they were holding, while the remaining members guessed its name. If the team correctly identified 8 out of 10 items, they received a clue to move on to the next station.
After an exciting and competitive journey through all stations, the three outstanding teams earning the title of “Heo Xinh 3 Best” were officially revealed. With impressive performances across the categories of best gameplay, highest score, and fastest finish, the teams delivered thrilling and energetic moments throughout the competition.
Third Place went to the Yellow Team, who impressed with their consistent performance and unwavering effort.
Although not in the top three, the Green and Pink Teams still left a strong impression thanks to their unity and vibrant energy, contributing greatly to the emotional and spirited atmosphere of the event.
Concluding the journey of “visiting” Saigon’s iconic landmarks through the 2025 Freshmen Welcome Field Trip themed “HAPPY PIG-NIC,” the Organizing Committee hopes that students enjoyed meaningful experiences, gained confidence, strengthened teamwork skills, and are now ready to overcome new challenges ahead in their university journey at HUFLIT.
