Taiwan online education, culture and scholarship information program for HUFLIT students
Recently, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology (HUFLIT) in collaboration with the Department of Education of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office brought the Taiwan Education, Culture and Scholarship Information Program. The program was organized through the MS Teams platform with the participation of more than 200 students from all faculties in the school.
Attending the talk were Ms. Au Quy Hi – Secretary of Education of Taipei Office in Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. Truong Chi Cuong – Education Assistant. At the beginning of the program, Ms. Au Quy Hi shared the message: if you want to learn a foreign language well, you should learn both the language and culture of that country. She hopes that students can use their eyes to see Taiwan, use their ears to listen to Taiwan’s voice and use their hearts to feel Taiwan.
Taiwan Education, Culture and Scholarship Information Program
Ms. Dang Thi Hue Tran – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, representing HUFLIT and students, expressed her gratitude to Ms. Au and the Taipei Office for creating a bridge for HUFLIT students to understand about Taiwan. She hoped that the program would contribute to maintaining the love between Taiwan and Vietnam as well as the Taipei Office – HUFLIT. Ms. Hue Tran said that due to the limited number of participants, the seminar only had about 200 students registered. Those who did not have the opportunity to participate this time shared with her that they hope there will be more programs providing information about studying abroad like this so that they can learn more about the people and country of Taiwan.
Speakers and students participating in the program
True to its name, the program has provided useful information about education, culture and especially Taiwan Government scholarships (including Degree Scholarships and Chinese Language Scholarships). The application period is from January to March every year with the degree scholarship being about 30,000 NTD/month (about 24,000,000 VND, including living expenses and scholarships) lasting 4 years for undergraduate, 2 years for master’s, 4 years for doctorate; with the Chinese language scholarship being 25,000 NTD/month (about 20,000,000 VND). By participating in interactions and answering questions posed by the Department of Education, students will also receive many attractive gifts.

Chinese Language Scholarship
Taiwan’s education system ranks 17th in the world and 4th in Asia (after Japan, Korea, and China, according to QS Rankings). With similarities in the education system, culture, and lifestyle, Taiwan has become the choice of many young people and Vietnamese parents. Although the main language is Mandarin, most people here can speak basic English; therefore, international students do not encounter many difficulties with the language when they first arrive in Taiwan, even if their Mandarin is not very good. It can be said that Taiwan is a great opportunity to study a major and practice both languages: Chinese and English at the same time.
