Signing MOU with CAPE BRETON UNIVERSITY – CANADA, more opportunities to experience international study at HUFLIT
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT) signed a memorandum of understanding on educational cooperation between HUFLIT and Cape Breton University (CBU), Canada, thereby helping students enhance their learning experience at HUFLIT as well as access one of the quality universities in Canada – Cape Breton.

Cape Breton University becomes HUFLIT’s newest Canadian partner
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. John Mackinnon
– Vice Principal in charge of external affairs, Mr. Bob Liu
– Director of CBU English Center and marketing representatives of Cape Breton University in Vietnam.
On HUFLIT side, there were the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Manh Ha – Vice Principal, M.A. Nguyen Thi Thieu – Head of Foreign Affairs Department, M.A. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Lecturer of Faculty of Economics and Finance, M.A. Ma Xuan Vinh – Lecturer of Faculty of Business Administration.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed and expressed their confidence in future cooperation such as student exchange programs, short-term English courses at CBU… In particular, Mr. John Mackinnon expressed his desire to cooperate with HUFLIT to implement the 2+2 university program in 2 majors considered to be CBU’s strengths: Business Administration and Hotel and Restaurant Management. Participating in this program, HUFLIT students will study the first 2 years in Vietnam, complete the remaining 2 years in Canada and will be awarded a Bachelor’s degree by CBU.

The two schools discussed cooperation possibilities
Also at the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Manh Ha expressed his desire to further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two units with the aim of bringing students more and more meaningful and practical activities and programs. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding can be seen as the first premise for promising cooperation programs between the two sides.
On the side of Cape Breton University, Ms. Thuong Huynh – Marketing Representative of CBU shared that this school is considered a worthy destination for international students in general and Vietnamese students in particular with the following characteristics: it is the university with the lowest tuition fee in Nova Scotia; has a paid internship program that brings in an income of about 20,000 CAD/year and accumulates 1 year of experience after graduation; is the only school in Canada that trains Bachelor of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism in a 3-year program, including 12 months of paid internship; and is the only partner in Canada of the world’s largest hotel group IHG, supporting internships for students.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding can be seen as a premise for promising cooperation programs between the two sides and is expected to start as early as 2023.

Cape Breton University was founded in 1951 and is a public university in Canada. The school is located on Cape Breton Island, Sydney City, Nova Scotia Province. Domestically, CBU has been at the top of the student satisfaction rankings for many years (2006, 2007 and 2013). Cape Breton is also the only school in Canada that offers a 3-year Bachelor of Hotel and Tourism Management, including 12 months of paid internship; and is the only partner in Canada of the world’s largest hotel group, IHG.
