Wonkwang University (Korea) offers 70% tuition discount to HUFLIT students

During the information sharing session on studying abroad and scholarships for HUFLIT students, representatives of Wonkwang University (Korea) committed to offering a 70% tuition discount when HUFLIT students register to study at WKU under the international transfer program.

Recently, students of the Faculty of Oriental Languages ​​and Cultures, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages ​​and Information Technology (HUFLIT) had a meeting with representatives of Wonkwang University (WKU), Korea. The meeting brought valuable sharing about the educational orientation and development of WKU, as well as preferential policies exclusively for HUFLIT students when participating in exchange, transfer or postgraduate programs at the school.

The meeting took place in the context of international cooperation in education and training becoming an inevitable trend of universities. In particular, the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Korea in the field of education is being strengthened with coordination and support in many aspects.

Attending this sharing session, WKU representatives who shared with the students were Prof. Kang Yeon Seok – Head of the International Cooperation Department and Ms. Shin Jihyo – Staff of the International Cooperation Department. On HUFLIT’s side, there was the presence of MSc. Nguyen Thi Thieu – Head of the Foreign Affairs Department and Dr. Hoang Nguyen Phuong – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Languages ​​and Cultures along with nearly 100 students majoring in Korean Studies and Korean Language, Faculty of Oriental Languages ​​and Cultures.

On this return, Prof. Kang Yeon Seok expressed: “This is the third time I have visited HUFLIT. On this trip, I hope to bring many study abroad opportunities along with preferential scholarship policies exclusively for HUFLIT students to confidently conquer their dream of studying in Korea”.

In his sharing, Prof. Kang presented the trends and common characteristics in the thinking of Korean youth through the thematic report “Korean youth’s perception of society”. At the same time, he also introduced the school’s long history with more than 75 years of operation, along with its strengths in training. In addition, Prof. Kang also shared comments and assessments from the Korean Ministry of Education and Training, affirming the quality of training and promoting innovation in the WKU community.

In addition, Professor Kang said that Jeonbuk province, where Wonkwang University is located, has become a “Special Autonomous Province”. From this year, WKU will cooperate with businesses to promote programs to ensure that students can work in Korea after graduation. With  this policy, Professor Kang hopes that excellent Vietnamese students will come to WKU to receive excellent education. In particular, WKU always gives priority to HUFLIT students, WKU’s most important partner university in Vietnam. It can be said that this is a “golden” opportunity for HUFLIT students who wish to study and work in Korea in the future.

In addition to Professor Kang Yeon Seok‘s sharing, Ms. Shin Jihyo also introduced to students information on undergraduate and graduate scholarships at WKU. In this section, Ms. Shin provided detailed information and important notes on tuition fees, registration time, as well as application documents. In particular, HUFLIT students who register to study at WKU will receive a 70% reduction in tuition fees.

Up to now, the cooperative relationship between HUFLIT and WKU has been established for 7 years since the two schools signed a cooperation agreement in 2017. Over the past time, the two schools have successfully implemented many exchange programs and projects, bringing many practical values ​​and interesting learning experiences to students majoring in Korean Studies at HUFLIT. And in 2024, HUFLIT and WKU will continue to implement the transfer study abroad program, opening up many opportunities for HUFLITers to access advanced education and find jobs in Korea.
