Students from the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures received a 130 million-VND scholarship during the talkshow on tourism

Not only did the talkshow “Orientation of careers in the Korean tourism market with experts” provide students from the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures with accurate and practical insights into the job market in the tourism industry through the sharing of experts, but they also received a scholarship worth 130 million VND.

After facing challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the recovery of the tourism industry has brought about new opportunities for the sector in general and its workforce in particular. However, the tourism industry, especially the workforce proficient in Korean and Japanese, is still in need of many skilled workers. Therefore, training and providing human resources for the tourism sector are essential requirements for society.

In addition to the Administrative Office major, the Korean Studies program in the Faculty of Oriental Languages and Cultures Faculty offers the Culture-Tourism major. To guide students interested in the field of tourism, the Korean Language Department organized the talkshow “Orientation of careers in the Korean tourism market with experts”, featuring guest speakers such as Dr. Tang Thong Nhan – Deputy Head of the Department of Tourism, Restaurants, and Hotels at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Founder of PACIFIC Group; Dr. Pham Tan Duc – International Tour Guide, Vietravel Academy Instructor; along with invited guests, Mr. Nguyen Van Tan – Director of Vietravel Academy, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Thao – Admissions Department of Vietravel Academy; Dr. Phan Minh Chau – Head of the Tourism Department, Vietnam-Korea Institute of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), International Tour Guide, and other staff from Pacific Company.

Dr. Tang Thong Nhan, Dr. Pham Tan Duc, and Dr. Phan Minh Chau also shared their practical experiences in their careers with the students. They emphasized the importance of foreign languages in the tourism industry, the advantages and challenges of being a tour guide, and the essential qualities needed for a tour guide, such as adaptability and problem-solving skills.

Furthermore, the guest speakers introduced the regulations and laws in the tourism sector and the requirements to become a tour guide. They sincerely and openly answered questions from the students during the talk show, providing valuable insights for those interested in pursuing a career in tourism.

During the event, representatives from Vietravel Academy, under Vietravel Group, presented professional tourism skills courses offered by the company. They also pledged to establish Win-Together cooperation with the university in terms of training and recruitment. At the talk show, Vietravel Academy awarded the representative of the East Asian Faculty a scholarship worth 130 million VND for professional tourism skills courses.
